Evolves Certain Pokemon

There are certain Pokemon that will only evolve during a specific time of day. Some of these will require you items, while others need an item to evolve.

In previous Pokemon games, there are certain Pokemon that only evolve during nighttime or daytime. Interestingly, these Pokemon also require high friendship or a held item but it is still unknown whether these mechanics will make a return in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

How to Change Time of Day

Sleep at a Base Camp Or At Your Home

Base Camp Change Time.png

You can change the time of day in the game when you sleep at a base camp or at your home in Jubilife Village. You are given the option to sleep for a short period or to sleep until morning, midday, evening, or nightfall. This is very helpful when you are trying to catch a Pokemon that only appears during a certain time of the day.

Base Camps Features and Guide

Does Not Follow Real World Time

Pokemon BDSP Nighttime

Unlike in previous Pokemon games, time in Pokemon Legends: Arceus does not follow real world time, meaning that you can play the game while it is nighttime even if it is in the middle of the day in your area.

Additionally, as real world time isn't tied to in-game time, changing your Nintendo Switch's system time does not change the time of day in the game.

How to Check the Time

Check the Time On the Upper Right Corner of the Map Screen

You can check the time on the upper right corner of the map screen when you press the - button.
