After collecting all 28 Unown forms around the Hisui region, there is a chance for a Level 40 Alpha Unown to appear inside Solaceon Ruins in Crimson Mirelands. They can also appear in various forms, so check back often!
After collecting all the Wisps for Request 22: Eerie Apparitions in the Night Request, there is a chance for a Level 80 Alpha Spiritomb to appear at Shrouded Ruins in Crimson Mirelands when you visit it during nightfall.
Note that the spawn rate of regular Spiritombs is low, so the chances of spawning an Alpha Spiritomb will be much lower!

Alpha Pokemon can be captured on the field similar to any wild Pokemon. However, they are aggressive and have a low catch rate, so you need to prepare a few items and approach these Pokemon with caution.
Item | Explanation |

This type of Poke Ball increases its catch rate when used on an unsuspecting Pokemon. You will need to get close to the Alpha Pokemon to use this as it does not fly high. If you have a high Star Rank, you can use a Leaden Ball or a Gigaton Ball instead. |
![]() |
You can use a Razz Berry to distract the Alpha Pokemon and have it face at a certain direction. If you have the Alpha Pokemon's Preferred Food, you can use it instead as it increases its catch rate when fed with it. |

If the Alpha Pokemon can be found in an area that has no tall grass, you can use Smoke Bombs to create a hiding spot for you to capture the Pokemon without being detected. |
Be sure to save your game before attempting to capture an Alpha Pokemon in case you lose any items or black out. We recommend turning off Autosave so it does not automically save your progress.
Move and crouch at the tall grass so that the Alpha Pokemon will not detect you. If there are no tall grass in the area, you can use Smoke Bombs to create hiding spots.
If the Alpha Pokemon has spotted you and becomes hostile, run from it and head back once the red eye icon disappears.
Throw a berry or the Alpha Pokemon's preferred food to distract it. We recommend guiding the Alpha Pokemon so its back is turned but you can also have it face to the side.
Hold down the ZR Button to ready the Heavy Ball and approach the Alpha Pokemon while crouching. Do not roll towards it as this causes the Pokemon to turn around and detect you.
If you hold down the ZR Button, you can check that the icon changes color when the Alpha Pokemon is eating the food. Catch the Alpha Pokemon while the icon becomes yellow to increase the chances of capturing it.
If the Alpha Pokemon gets out of the Heavy Ball, reset the game and try again. If you do not want to reset, move away from the Pokemon until it is no longer hostile.
You can also weaken and capture the Alpha Pokemon in battle similar to any wild Pokemon on the field. However, Alpha Pokemon has a high level, recovery moves, and recoil moves, making it difficult to reduce its HP.
It is recommended to catch Alpha Pokemon directly on the field as much as possible.
One of the biggest differences between Alpha and Normal Pokemon is its size. The image above shows an Alpha Rhyhorn next to a Normal Rhyhorn.
Alpha Pokemon grow even bigger should they have not reached their peak evolution yet!
Alpha Rhyhorn Effort Level Summary
Alpha Pokemon can have at least three stats with Effort Levels 3 upon catching, meaning you would have to use less Grit Items in order to increase the Alpha's Effort Level.
This allows the player to be able to focus on leveling up the Pokemon more than collecting Effort Level increasing items which can be difficult to find.

There are chances where Alpha Pokemon already know some moves that the move-tutor Zisu can teach to a given Pokemon.
In most cases, you would have to pay Zisu a fee in order for Normal Pokemon to learn new moves. So with Alpha Pokemon, there might be a chance that you get to save up on buying moves!
Alpha Pokemon have a distinctive red glow on their eyes and are larger and more aggressive than your usual wild Pokemon. This makes them more dangerous as they also attack trainers that get to close.
When engaged in battle, they will have a symbol next to their name denoting their Alpha status. Expect their battles to be difficult but they will drop rare items if you beat them in battle.
Several Alpha Pokemon can be spotted at the same location in the map. Additionally, Alpha Pokemon can pop-out in the wild randomly, as well as inside Space-Time Distortions.
The following Alpha Pokemon are not found as set encounters on the Map, and can only be found randomly at a low rate in place of normal spawns.
As these Pokemon do not appear in the wild, they can only be Alphas when an Alpha of a previous evolution evolves into them.

These Pokemon are thought to have no Alpha version which exists due to being unavailable in the wild. If you have found an Alpha version of any of these Pokemon, please leave a comment to help us get the most accurate info!

All of the Pokemon that supposedly can only be Alphas by evolution only are obtainable through mass outbreaks of the pre-evolution. I have caught an Alpha Basculegion and an Alpha Avalugg in the wild during Massive Mass Outbreaks.
