This is a breakdown of the December Update trailer released on December 15, 2021, featuring the Diamond and Pearl Clans as well as the Ginkgo Guild Merchants in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Read on for an analysis of their roles in the game and who the Almighty Sinnoh is!
In addition to the Galaxy Corps, Hisui's factions also include the Diamond and Pearl Clans. The previously revealed Wardens are part of these clans, which indicates that the clans' overall mission is to protect the special Pokemon of the Hisui region. However, the 2 clans are apparently at odds with one another due to their differences in method.
Clans and Organizations in the Hisui Region
Wardens protect and serve different Noble Pokemon, but the wardens also serve their clan. Pearl Clan's Warden Lian protects Kleavor the Noble Pokemon of Obsidian Fieldlands. The official site states that you will end up serving the Pearl Clan at one point in the story, so it's unlikely that there'll be an in-game decision where you'll choose a certain Clan and thus be limited to their Wardens' Noble Pokemon.
The 2 young leaders of the Diamond and Pearl Clan may share the same goal but have different ways of going about it, which puts them at odds.
Clan Leader | Pokemon | Description |
---|---|---|
Adaman (Diamond Clan) |
Leafeon | This daring young man hates seeing time go to waste and likes to rush forward without worrying too much about particulars. This way of thinking puts him at odds with Irida, who leads the Pearl Clan, so the two are frequently seen fighting.

Irida (Pearl Clan) |
Glaceon | As a leader, she feels it is important to have the courage to face the vast Hisui region without quailing before it. Though she is suspicious of you when you first meet, she will come to trust you thanks to the help you provide in quelling the noble Pokémon.

A couple of times throughout the trailer, characters make references to a deity known as Sinnoh. Sinnoh is, of course, the modern-day name for the Hisui Region in Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, Brilliant Diamond, and Shining Pearl.
The characters state that “almighty Sinnoh” created the Hisui region. While it isn't confirmed, it's most likely that Sinnoh is the ancient name for Arceus and that the Hisui region was renamed after it, given that it is the titular Pokemon Legend of this game. However, other likely candidates are Dialga and Palkia, given the existence of the Diamond and Pearl Clans perhaps having a different idea of what the deity Sinnoh is.
In the trailer, Irida is shown using the Celestica Flute, which was previously confirmed as a way to summon rideable Pokemon. This could mean that she shares a link with one of the rideable Pokemon in the region or she herselft has her own rideable Pokemon.
Since she is seen playing it beside a body of water, it is possible that she could be summoning a Basculegion in the clip or showing the player how to do this.
A list of berries and other items is shown in the trailer and the description of the Oran Berry states that you can throw it to lure a Pokemon in the wild. This is a new mechanic for Berries, as you could only previously feed them to your Pokemon or have your Pokemon hold them. This new function is more similar to that of fluffruit in New Pokemon Snap.
We will definitely see more and varied effects of Items on wild Pokemon, as in the same segment, the trailer shows the item Bugwort does not attract wild Pokemon.
These items will be mostly purchased from wandering merchants of the Gingko Guild. It does not appear that these merchants will just be adjacent to the story like Poke Marts are to the other mainline series games, as the characters are given in-depth descriptions which hint at a larger role in the story.
