Catching Pokemon is a balance of dealing damage, giving status effects like Paralyze or Drowsy and holding steady against attacks! You're more likely to succeed by attacking smart and focusing on debilitating Pokemon isntead.
In addition, Pokemon with False Swipe are extremely useful when catching other Pokemon as this move prevents them from fainting. Keeping them at 1 HP with a status effect is sure to raise your odds of catching even the most stubborn Pokemon!

At higher Levels, there are many Pokemon that use moves like Double Edge which can harm them and potentially end the battle before you can catch them. Your best bet in this case is to use Ghost-Type Pokemon that not only negate Normal-Type moves but also inflict Status Conditions!

Pokemon with high Attack and Speed can efficiently lower a target's HP in just a few moves. Paired with False Swipe and you'll have Pokemon that are not only great for battle, but can also be used for catching!

It is recommended to use Moves with varying Power for Pokemon being used for catching. It's quite simple to change out different abilities and this allows you to adjust, even when your Pokemon does not know False Swipe.
Opponents can deal quite a bit of damage during battle, and while some Pokemon can take a hit, you're better off trying to catch a Pokemon as quickly as possible! Remember to quickly reduce their HP so you can immediately begin catching them.
One of the simplest ways to of catching is to throw the Poke Ball before you're seen, giving you a better chance of catching certain Pokemon. Battles on the other hand should be used for Pokemon that may run away when found or aggressive Pokemon that have spotted you.
