| Steps to proceed through A Request from Mai | |

| 1 |  Go to the Training Grounds and win the battle against Rei/Akari. You will learn about Type Matchups as well as Agile and Strong Style moves after the fight. |
| 2 |  Travel to the Obsidian Fieldlands where you'll meet Volo again. He will teach you how to perform back strikes to make capturing Pokemon easier and give you an advantage when a battle is initiated. |
| 3 |  Meet with Mai and defeat her in a Pokemon battle to prove your strength. Mai will give you some Vivichokes after winning the battle. ▶ How to Beat Mai and Munchlax |
| 4 |  Make your way to Deertrack Heights and talk to Mai. After she patches you up, approach the Alpha Kricketune to begin the battle. Alpha Kricketune will be at Lv12 but take your time to strengthen your team to at least Lv16 since Alpha Pokemon normally packs a punch. All Base Camps and How to Unlock
After learning about Research Tasks from the Professor in the previous mission, complete enough tasks to advance your Star Rank. The next day, you'll speak to Rei/Akari and trigger the next mission.
The mission will officially start after the battle with Rei/Akari.
