Starters and Legendaries are Shiny-Locked

Starters Received from Professor Laventon are Shiny-Locked

No shinies here.

While many players may enjoy soft-resetting at the start of the game in the hopes of getting a Shiny starter, that will not be possible for Pokemon Legends: Arceus. The Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott that accompany Professor Laventon are programmed to never be shiny.

Starters Found in Space-Time Distortions are not Shiny-Locked

Space-Time Distortion

Don't lose heart if you still want a shiny Starter Pokemon! After the main campaign, players will be able to capture more starters from Space-Time Distortions. As random encounters, they may be shiny!

I guess a Shiny Palkia isn't that much different anyway...

Likewise, all other static encounters appear to be shiny-locked in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. This includes Legendaries that are part of the story or even legendaries that have to be found as part of requests.

What are Shiny-Locked Pokemon?

Shiny-Locked Pokemon are Pokemon that have been programmed to never be shiny. This is often done to special Pokemon to make their Shiny forms even rarer.

Shiny versions of Shiny-Locked Pokemon are typically only released through distributions or mystery gifts. We'll be sure to let you know if there are any Shiny Distributions going on!

Cresselia isn't a mythical. She's just a Legendary, since not an event Pokémon.
