This page lists tips and guides on getting started in Pokemon Legends: Arceus on the Nintendo Switch. Learn more about the basics of the game to get you started, and discover new features and mechanics included in the game!

How to Progress Through the Early Game

Turn On the Mission Indicator

When progressing through the main story Missions, make sure the Mission Indicator is turned on. This will show an icon of where to go next on the map so that you don't get lost.

For as long as the Request Indicator is turned off, the Mission indicator will be turned on.

Actively Catch and Battle Wild Pokemon

Catch Battle Wild Pokemon.png

Catch and battle wild Pokemon as much as possible. You'll be able to increase your Research Level this way, and then you can release Pokemon you don't need from the Pasture to receive Grit Gravel, Grit Pebble, and Grit Rock.

Be Conscious of Research Tasks While Playing

Keep your active Research Tasks in mind as you're out catching and battling Pokemon so as to progress through the game smoothly. To more easily raise the Research Level of a particular Pokemon, you can complete the Observe a Pokemon Do a Specific Move Research Task by having your Pokemon perform that move instead of waiting for a wild Pokemon to do it.

Catch High Level Pokemon to Get More Experience Points

The higher the level of the Pokemon you catch relative to the Pokemon in your party, the more experience points you receive. To that end, seek out strong Pokemon to level up faster!

Actively Gather Items in the Overworld

Gather Items.png
You can find items in the wild like Apricorns, Oran Berries, and Medicinal Leeks, which are useful for crafting new items. Rather than purchasing perishable items, save the money and pick them up whenever you come across them in the field.

Level Up Your Survey Corps Rank

Survey Corps.png

Be diligent about leveling up your Survey Corps Rank! Not only can you increase the rewards you receive when reporting your Research, but you'll also be able to learn more craftable recipes to make new types of Poke Balls and other items. It's a win-win!

Complete Requests to Unlock Recipes and More

Requests.png

Completing Requests (which are like sidequests in Pokemon Legends: Arceus) will net you different rewards like items and craftable recipes, so seek out and finish Requests as often as possible.

Increase Your Satchel Size When Possible

Bagin.png
If you have leftover money burning a hole in your pocket, increasing your Satchel size is worth the investment. You'll need to gather a lot of materials for crafting, which will in turn fill up your available Satchel slots in the blink of an eye. Head to the Galaxy Hall and talk to Bagin after you've finished Mission 6: Summoned by Commander Kamado when you want to upgrade your Satchel.

Check On the Farm Whenever You Return to Jubilife Village

How to Farm.png

After linking up with the Ginkgo Guild, you'll be able to cultivate large quantities of items like Medicinal Leeks and Apricorns on the Farm in Jubilife Village, which you can harvest at fixed intervals. You'll need to pay Colza to use the Farm, so check out the guide below for more information!
