Unlock Condition

This request will only be available after quelling the Frenzied Noble Kleavor in the The Frenzy of the Lord of the Woods mission. Once you get back to Jubilife Village, you can talk to Paira by the building near the Pastures.

Mission Objectives

Steps to proceed through The Mysterious Will-o'-the-Wisp
1 Go to Paira and talk to her in Jubilife Village to start on her request.
2
PLA The Mysterious Will-o
Follow the marker on the map in Obsidian Fieldlands to get the to the mysterious Will-o'-the-Wisp.
You can turn on quest markers by pressing A while hovering over a request in the Request List.
2 PLA Rest Til NightfallWait until nightfall for the Will-o'-the-Wisp to appear
You can head to the nearby Heights Camp to rest and pass the time.
3 PLA The Mysterious Will-oInvestigate the spot beside the tree at the quest marker location. A Chimchar will appear, which you'll have to fight and capture.
4 Go back to Jubilife Village and show Paira the Chimchar you just caught to complete the request.
You need to present Chimchar to Paira at night to complete this Request. You can go to your Quarters and sleep until nightfall to do this.

Capture Chimchar During the Battle

PLA Chimchar Quest Battle

Weaken the Chimcar by attacking it and inflicting it with Status Effects, such as Paralysis. However, you have to be careful not to drain its HP to 0, or you will have to fight it again to capture it and finish the request!

How to Catch Pokemon

Return to Jubilife Village After Catching

After capturing Chimchar, it is recommended to return to Jubilife Village immediately and talk to Paira to finish the Request. As the Chimchar found is tied to the Request completion, it may result in bug if it is evolved to Monferno, so return and finish the Request after getting it.

With this quest you have to do it durning nightfall because I had the same problem I have two too. It works during nightfall bc it says it in the quest
