---|---|
1 | Read the request from the blackboard after starting the Scaling Perilous Heights mission. |
2 | Catch an Overqwil, Buizel, and Mantyke and add them to your party. To get an Overqwil, catch a Qwilfish and have it evolve into Overqwil. |
3 | In the evening, pass through the two rock pillars in Cobalt Coastlands. |
4 | Manaphy and Phione will appear inside the Seaside Hollow. |
5 | Catch Manaphy. You can also catch Phione since it is rare, but it is not required for the request. |
6 | Report back to Professor Laventon to complete the request. |
Overqwil | Buizel | Mantyke |
Buizel are commonly found near bodies of water in several areas. While Qwilfish, which evolves into Overqwil, and Mantyke can be found in Cobalt Coastlands, usually in the waters by Ginkgo Landing or Tranquility Cove.
Once you have each Pokemon in your party, you will need to pass between the two rock pillars visible from Sand's Reach. You will need to do this in the evening or nothing will happen, since the myth specifically states that it must be a “sunset-streaked sea”.
After passing thorugh the rock pillars, a message should appear at the bottom of the screen, which tells you if you have successfully summoned the Legendary Sea Pokemon.
Manaphy and Phione have spawned inside Seaside Hollow, the cave located near Veilstone Cape in the map. The entrance in the cave will down by the water at the side of the cliff, so you'll need to ride your Basculegion to get there.
Manaphy (Lv. 50) | Phione (Lv. 35) |
Inside the cave, you'll find one Manaphy and three Phione. Once one of them notices you, they'll start attacking with Bubble and Water attacks, so be careful when entering the cave. To start a battle, you'll need to throw a Poke Ball to break the water shield before you can let out one of your partner Pokemon.
If you don't properly time your throws, you will have to go up against all four Pokemon at once. Wait until the Pokemon are in opposite edges of the cave, then throw your Pokemon's Poke Ball at Manaphy. You can easily tell it apart by its yellow eyebrows. If you time it right, you can get Manaphy alone in battle.
Manaphy will mostly use Water Pulse and Moonblast, so Pokemon that resist both moves like Empoleon or Roserade are great Pokemon to bring to the fight.
Once you have successfully captured Manaphy, you can go ahead and capture one or all of the Phione. Since they are a lower level, they will be significantly easier to deal with than Manaphy. The Phione will use mostly use Psychic and Bubble during the battle so Pokemon like Samurott and Empoleon are ideal in this case.
If your Pokemon are at low health from the previous Manaphy battle, you can always leave to heal up and come back. Phione will respawn in the Seaside Hollow even after you have completed the request, so there is no pressure to capture the Pokemon right away.
The key to solving the mystery is by reading one of the newly added Sinnoh myths in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, which involves three Pokemon. According to the myth, you need a Qwilfish with huge spikes, Buizel, and Mantyke to encounter a Pokemon called the Prince.
The Qwilfish with huge spikes referred to in the myth is Overqwil, the evolution of Qwilfish in the Hisui region.

Take a surplus of Sticky Globs. Throw these at the Spinning pokemon, then run behind them with Gigatron/Leaden balls and BOP them on the backs of the heads. You can catch all of them with this method without needing to fight anyone.
