Connections Between the Two Games

Sinnoh and Hisui Region

Both of these games will be taking place in the Sinnoh region. The key difference is that Legends: Arceus will feature the Sinnoh of old when it was still called as the Hisui region.

Hisui and Sinnoh Map Comparisons

Hisui Region Sinnoh Region

Several other differences could be found when comparing the two maps side by side, which might be due to natural erosion and shifting of the land. However, it could also mean that powerful forces shaped the region into its current state.

Mount Coronet

Mount Coronet was, and still is, the center of the Hisui/Sinnoh region. In the past, this location seemed to be even more connected to the Mythical Pokemon Arceus.

Jubilife Village seems to be the game's main or starting point and is home to Galaxy Expedition Team's headquarters. The village was likely the origins of the present day Jubilife City, one of the biggest cities in all of Sinnoh.

Canalave Library

The teaser released on October 19 mentioned that the footage was found in the Canalave Library. This implies that the library could have been around even during the Hisuian era. However, there is no confirmation on this yet as the footage could have been moved to the library at a later time.

Stark Mountain

Pokemon Legends Arceus Stark Mountain

In a Japanese commercial of Pokemon Legends: Arceus, a volcano could be seen as the player flies through the air with Hisuian Braviary. Since the only volcano in the entire Sinnoh Region is Stark Mountain, it is very likely that this is the same volcano.

The Galaxy Expedition Team and Team Galactic

Pokemon Legends Arceus Galaxy Expedition Team

Though there have been no connections revealed between the two organizations, it is unlikely a coincidence that the two share a name. It is possible that the two teams could be linked in some way or that the Galaxy Expedition Team sparked the creation of Team Galactic.

The Diamond and Pearl Clans of the Hisui region have names that are allude to the original Sinnoh region Pokemon games, and are also likely tied to two of the Legendary Pokemon in the Sinnoh region, Dialga and Palkia.

Though not explicitly stated in any of the trailers of Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Dialga and Palkia are implied to be dieties that are linked to the two clans of the Hisui region and will likely play a major role in the main story of the game.

Connections to the Sinnoh Myth

Sinnoh Region Mythology

In Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, you are tasked to read up on the Sinnoh region myths. Certain parts of the myth refer to what we currently know about Hisui, so it is possible that the myth ties into the current story of Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

Sinnoh Region's Mythology
Long ago, when Sinnoh had just been made, Pokémon and humans led separate lives.
That is not to say they did not help each other. No, indeed they did.
They supplied each other with goods, and supported each other.
A Pokémon proposed to the others to always be ready to help humans.
It asked that Pokémon be ready to appear before humans always.
Thus, to this day, Pokémon appear to us if we venture into tall grass.

The Almighty Sinnoh

The Almighty Sinnoh is a being that was first referenced in the December 15 trailer of the game. Though there has been no confirmation on the being's identity, it likely refers to Arceus since they are both credited as being the creators of the Hisui and Sinnoh region.

The myth of the Almighty Sinnoh could also tie into The Origin Story, another Sinnoh region myth that you can read in Pokemon BDSP, which describes the creation of the Pokemon World.

The Origin Story
In the beginning, there was only a churning turmoil of chaos.
At the heart of chaos, where all things became one, appeared an Egg.
Having tumbled from the vortex, the Egg gave rise to the Original One.
From itself, two beings the Original One did make.
Time started to spin. Space began to expand.
From itself again, three living things the Original One did make.
The two beings wished, and from them, matter came to be.
The three living things wished, and from them, spirit came to be.
The world created, the Original One took to unyielding sleep...

Pokemon HOME support is coming to Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl early 2022. This coincides with the release of Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

Hopefully this means that we can transfer over Hisuian Pokemon from Arceus to the remakes!
