How to Complete the Pokedex |
---|
Register new species of Pokemon in your Pokedex by catching or seeing unobserved species in the wild. Once a Pokemon has been added to your Pokedex, you can continue to update the entry on your future expeditions.
Once a Pokemon has been registered to your Pokedex, you will find that several information has insufficient data and the Research Level found on the bottom-right is low. To add more data to the entry and increase its Research Level, continue catching and observing this species of Pokemon.
How to Increase Research Level Fast
Each Pokemon will have their own set of Research Tasks that you need to fulfill in order to complete the Pokedex. You don't need to do every single research task for a Pokemon. Just doing some until it reaches Research Level 10 is enough to complete its Pokedex entry.
To complete Pokedex entries, you need to raise the Pokemon's Research Level to 10. Raising it to this level will consider that the research about the Pokemon is complete, which means that you do not need to complete every Research Task for it to be registered in the Pokedex.
You can keep track of your Pokedex progress by looking at the Poke Ball icons at the upper right corner of your Pokedex.
The gray and incomplete Poke Ball to the left represents Pokemon that you have seen, the complete but gray Poke Ball in the middle indicates Pokemon you have caught, and the colored Poke Ball to the far right represents Pokemon with complete Pokedex entries.
If you check the left column of the Research Tasks for any Pokemon, you'll notice that some of the tasks have an icon with two red arrows. These tasks are boosted, so they offer double the points you would normally receive.
After updating your Pokedex by completing entries or fulfilling Research Tasks, you will receive Pokemon Research Points, which levels you up to the next rank in the Galaxy Expedition Team. Ranking up will make Pokemon with a certain level to obey you without question, much like the Gym Badge mechanics in the main Pokemon games.
This means that if you have a high-levelled Pokemon and your rank is not high enough, chances are they will ignore your commands and do nothing.
How to Increase Survey Corps Rank
Earning a higher ranking in the team grants you access to new areas in the Hisui region. These new areas are home to many different kinds of Pokemon that you can study!
Star Rank | Area Unlocked |
---|---|
Second Star Member | Crimson Mirelands |
Third Star Member | Cobalt Coastlands |
Fourth Star Member | Coronet Highlands |
Fifth Star Member | Alabaster Icelands |
If you have raised the research level of all Pokemon to 10, you can obtain the Shiny Charm as a reward. This item increases the chances of encountering a shiny Pokemon on the field, making it easy to hunt for shinies.
How to Hunt for Shiny Pokemon and Shiny Odds
You can update your Pokedex by seeing Professor Laventon at the Base Camp. At the end of your expedition, he will give you a survey report of all the Pokemon you have seen and caught in the area. Part of the survey report is a Pokedex Progress Report where he will update your Pokedex.
Survey Report: List of Criteria and Rewards
Research tasks are assignments you need to do for each Pokemon to learn more about them. Each research task varies from catching several number of a specific Pokemon to watching them do a specific move several times.
Each Pokemon has a different set of research tasks that you need to accomplish and successfully doing 10 of these will complete their Pokedex entry.
Completing research tasks earns you research points which help you rank up in the Galaxy Expedition Team. As you increase your rank, the rewards you earn for each excursion will be more generous and you'll be able to craft better items to help you with your research.
You will start out as a No Star Member but you can be a Tenth Star Member once you have done plenty of research tasks.
By completing research tasks and reaching Research Level 10 on each Pokemon, you can work towards completing Hisui's first-ever Pokedex!
Hisui Pokedex and List of All Pokemon
Just like in previous games, completing the Pokedex will earn you a Shiny Charm - an item that improves the shiny rates of a Pokemon. When you have reached Research Level 10 for each Pokemon, simply talk to Professor Laventon to get the Shiny Charm.
