Some Pokemon have a secondary typing, which may sometimes cause them to be hit with a move that is super effective against both of their types. In this case, a super effective move could deal 4x damage to the defending Pokemon since the damage is multiplied between the two types.
On the other hand, the damage output could be lowered if 1 of the Pokemon's 2 types is resistant to the attacking Pokemon's move.
Rowlet | Type Effectiveness | ||
---|---|---|---|
Damage Output | |||
2x | 2x | 4x | |
2x | 1x | 2x | |
0.5x | 2x | 1x | |
0.5x | 1x | 0.5x | |
0.5x | 0.5x | 0.25x | |
0.5x | 0x | 0x |
As an example, Rowlet is 4x weak to Ice moves due to its dual Grass and Flying typing, but it only receives 1/4x the damage from Grass moves. Its Flying-type's weakness to Electric is also cancelled out since Grass is resistant to it. Regardless of its other type, it is immune to Ground since it is Flying-type.
When a Pokemon uses a move with the same type as it, the move deals additional damage to the defending Pokemon due to the Same Type Attack Bonus. STAB increases the damage of a move by 50%, which makes the damage output 1.5x more effective.

Some Pokemon are immmune to moves of a certain type. If one of a Pokemon's types is immune to a specific type, it will be immune to that regardless of any other type it may have. As an example, Hisuian Zoroark is immune to a total of three types due to its dual Normal and Ghost typing.
