Space Time Distortions are anomalies in the Hisui Region where Pokemon and items spawn in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Read on to learn how to unlock space time distortions, how to find them, what space time distortions are, what to do if distortions are not working or nothing happens, as well as a list of Pokemon and items found in Space Time Distortions.

How to Unlock and Find Space-Time Distortions

Reach Two-Star Rank and Unlock Crimson Mirelands

Discovering Space-Time Distortions

Space-Time Distortions will start appearing in the overworld after reaching the Two-Star Rank and after getting access to the Crimson Mirelands.

Possibility of Appearing on the Map after 5 Minutes Has Passed

PLA - Space-Time DIstortion Forming

Once you've spent at least 5 minutes on a map, there is a small chance that a Space-Time Distortion will form. Time spent in battle, in a menu, or in a dialogue box doesn't count toward this time, so make sure you're actively playing the game (or waiting around somewhere safe) if you're hoping for a Space-Time distortion to spawn.

Just remember not to close your game or faint, as doing so will remove the Space-time Distortion from the map even if you saved your game. Likewise, returning to Jubilife Village, entering sub-areas such as caves, or resting to a specific time will reset the timer.

Space-Time Distortions are guaranteed after 40 minutes on a map

Waiting Time Chance for Space-Time Distortion to Appear
(Normal Rates) (Purple Sky)
After 5 Minutes Slight Chance Slightly Better Chance
After 10 Minutes Decent Chance Decent Chance
After 15 Minutes Likely Likely
After 25 Minutes Highly Likely Highly Likely
After 40 Minutes Guaranteed Guaranteed

The longer you stay on the map, the more likely it is for a Space-Time Distortion to appear, eventually cumulating to a guaranteed spawn after 40 minutes of waiting. For most of the game, the chances for a distortion to appear are reflected in the normal rates column above. However, during the climax of the story, when the sky turns purple, space-time distortions are more likely to spawn in the first 5 minutes.

If you stay on the map, you will eventually receive a notifcation that a distortion is currently forming within the area. If one appears, A space-time distortion seems to be forming! will be displayed on the screen, and after a few minutes A space-time distortion appeared! will pop-up, meaning that rare Pokemon and items have begun spawning inside the dome.

Indicated by a vortex icon in the map

Space-Time Distortion Icon

If a Space-Time Distortion is active in the map, a vortex icon will be displayed with the text Space-time is growing unstable here, indicating its location.

Press the Minus Button (-) to open up the map and find the vortex symbol if one is active! Just note that it will disappear over time, so you should head to that partt of the map in the next few minutes if you'd like to enter the distortion.

Space-Time Distortion Duration

Timer at the start of Space-Time Distortion

Approximately 2 minutes into the Space-Time Distortion

Looking closely at the vortex icon in the map, you will see the time left for a space-time distortion to either arrive or go away, depending whether it's only about to form or while it is already occuring.

How to Make More Space-Time Distortions Spawn

Space-Time Distortions are random occurences, so nothing is confirmed that will trigger their spawning. The best thing to do is be prepared for when one eventually spawns by crafting enough Poke Balls, having space in your Satchel to pick up rare items, and making sure your Pokemon are healed up!

What do the Messages Mean?

Different text will appear on your screen depending on the state of the Space-Time Distortion. View the full list below!

Text Meaning
A space-time distortion seems to be forming! A Space-Time Distortion has been triggered and can now be seen on the map.
Space-time is growing unstable here. Text on the map, indicating where the distortion is happening.
A space-time distortion appeared! The trigger for Pokemon and items to begin spawning. As long as this message hasn't appeared, no Distortion Pokemon will appear.
The distortion has ended. This signals the end of the distortion, which means the regular Pokemon will return.

What to Do When the Space-Time Distortion is Not Working

Wait for it to Fully Form

PLA - A Space-Time Distortion Appeared

There may be instances where you'll quickly enter the Space-Time Distortion, wait for a a minute and nothing happens or changes. If you think your Space-Time Distortion isn't working, all you need to do is wait a few more minutes to give it time to fully form! This can take about 5 minutes, so use the time to catch Pokemon, gather materials, or find the perfect spots to sneak around!

You'll know that the distortion is beginning when you see the message A space-time distortion appeared . This is the moment you can open your map to check the location of the distortion.

Do Not Close Your Game

Even when it seems like the Space-Time Distortion isn't working do not close your game . Fainting or closing the game will despawn the Space-Time Distortion, causing you to lose the chance to grab those Pokemon.

Don't worry though, you'll only need to wait for the next one to try again!

Avoid Entering Sub-Areas, Resting to Specific Times, or Returning to Jubilife Village

Sometimes, you might feel like you've been roaming around the map for a while, and yet there are still no Space-Time Distortions forming. Keep in mind, that entering Sub-Areas such as caves will reset the distortion's spawn timer . Likewise, resting to specific time of day, or returning to Jubilife Village will also reset the timer.

Doing any of these will make it longer for a Space-Time Distortion to disappear, so avoid doing them. If you must, rest, choose to rest only for a little while. The cutscene will pause the distortion's spawn timer but it will not reset it.

What to Do When Space-Time Distortions aren't Spawning

Unfortunately, you can't force Space-Time Distortions to spawn. The best thing to do is make sure you're spending time in one of the five areas collecting and battling Pokemon, farming resources, or completing requests, and sooner or later you'll get a message saying that a new one is forming.

Space-Time Distortions Spawn Type

Appears → Disappears
(Repeating Spawn)
Randomly Appear
(Limited Spawn)

There are two ways a Pokemon spawns in Space-Time Distortions. One way, the repeating spawn type, is that a set of 2-3 Pokemon will consistently appear and disappear near the player throughout the Space-Time Distortion.

The other method, the limited spawn type, is that some Pokemon will just spawn randomly and may not respawn once it vanishes. This is usually the case for rarer Pokemon and ones that can only be caught during Space-Time Distortions. After completing the main story and watching the credits, the Starter Pokemon can also appear as limited spawns as well.

Catch Level 30-65 Pokemon Early

Pokemon that appear in Space-Time Distortions have high levels overall. During the early game, catching one gives you access to a Pokemon which is already strong enough and doesn't need to be leveled up as much to hold its own.

If a Space-Time Distortion appears in your map, check it out and try to capture as many Pokemon as you can.

Take note that Alpha Pokemon can appear in Space-Time Distortions and will be at a higher level than the others, so pick you battles wisely!

Pokemon Over Level 65 May Appear After Finishing Main Story

After catching Dialga and Palkia and beating the game, stronger Pokemon with higher levels will appear inside Space-Time Distortions. Make sure to check your team before heading inside one as the experience will be more difficult.
