Pokemon announced a new take on the franchise with Pokemon Legends: Arceus on February 26, 2021 with a trailer showing off the new way to play the beloved franchise! See everything we learned from the announcement trailer of Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
Pokemon Legends Arceus is said to be set in a time when the Sinnoh Region was still a vast wilderness. However, the exact time period of the game is yet to be revealed at this time.
When Does Pokemon Legends: Arceus Take Place?
The trailer showcased what seems to be an open-world where the player character is free to roam, sneak up on, and throw Poke Balls at wild Pokemon. There also appears to be a new combat system in place.
Strangely enough, despite being set in a land that will soon become Sinnoh, Pokemon Legends: Arceus does not share its starters with BDSP. The trailer shows Rowlet, Cyndaqul, and Oshawott as the starters for the game.
Best Starter Pokemon: Which Starter Should You Choose?
In the trailer, the original Sinnoh region Starter Pokemon could be seen roaming freely around the vast region. The role of starter Pokemon has been passed on to the three Pokemon mentioned above.
At the start of the trailer, two Poke Balls could be seen on top of the table. They appear slightly different from the Poke Balls in previous Pokemon games, which likely means that these are designs of the Poke Balls of the past.
List of Poke Balls and How to Use
So far, there have been two location revealed in the trailer that will likely be in the Pokemon Legends: Arceus. The full village is only revealed in a drawing, but other structures could also be seen in a few shots. The second location is a large mountain seen in the distance, which is likely Mt. Coronet.
