Level up fast by catching and defeating Pokemon in the wild and participating in Pokemon battles with other trainers. Read on to learn how to level up fast during the early, mid, and post game in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
List of Contents
A quick way to raise your Pokemon's levels early on is to catch or defeat the Level 20 Beautifly that are found in the Floaro Gardens area of Obsidian Fieldlands. Other Pokemon in the area are at comparatively lower levels, so this a great way to get an early boost in EXP.
Beautifly will only appear during daytime, so go back to the Base Camp and rest until morning if it is currently nighttime, as Dustox will spawn instead.
You will be rewarded with more experience points if you start an encounter with Beautifly compared to just catching it without starting a battle. When you spot a Beautifly, throw one of your Pokemon to battle it.
After doing so, you can either defeat it or catch it.
Throwing a Poke Ball (no battle) | Catching or defeating in battle |
---|---|
+421 EXP |
+935 EXP |
Pokemon which participate in the battle directly will receive twice as much EXP, so be sure to send out the Pokemon you're aiming to level up to help it get as much EXP as possible. The table below shows the results for each, with Zubat used as a sample.
Joined the battle | Did not join battle |
---|---|
Zubat gains 935 EXP |
Zubat only gains 496 EXP |
If you sneak up behind Beautifly and throw a Pokemon on its back, you can get an extra turn at the start as it will be caught unaware.
Doing this will allow weaker Pokemon to participate in battle without taking attacks from Beautifly.
# | Pokemon | Type |
---|---|---|
267 | Beautifly |
Beautifly's Bug and Flying typing makes it 4x weak to Rock-type attacks. You can use Geodude or Bibarel and their Rock-type moves to knock out Beautifly easily.
While farming Beauitfly for EXP, you can follow the route on the path above to farm several Apricorns and Tumblestones. These materials can be used to craft Poke Balls, so you'll need plenty of them in the long run.
You can battle level 40 Kricketunes behind the hills south of Golden Lowlands in Crimson Mirelands. They are at a higher level compared to other Pokemon in the Crimson Mirelands, which is a great way to farm EXP in the area.
Kricketune, like Beautifly, is also a Bug-type Pokemon, so you may use the Rock or Fire-type Pokemon you used previously to knock them out.

Chansey and Blissey give a large amount of experience points when caught or defeated just like in previous Pokemon games. These Pokemon will be at a higher level when you first encounter them, so it is recommended to use Fighting-type Pokemon when battling them.
Alpha Chansey can be seen in a small island near the Coastlands Camp in Cobalt Coastlands, which is unlocked by completing the Setting Up the Coastlands Camp Request.

After completing the Mission Scaling Perilous Heights, Ingo will appear in front of the Training Grounds. Talk to him to battle Galaxy Team members and other characters.
You will receive EXP after defeating the trainer. All your Pokemon will be healed immediately so you can keep on fighting the same trainer in a row. If you have a team that works great against a Trainer, you can fight them to farm EXP!
