The Other Starters are available in the Post-Game too

Consequently, you can catch the other two starter Pokemon in these Space-Time Distortions as well, meaning that you no longer have to trade Pokemon in order to complete the starters unlike in previous games. Starters from the Space-Time Distortions also have a chance to be shiny!

Are Starters and Legendaries Shiny Locked?

Receive Rowlet from Professor Laventon Post Game

Once you have reached post-game, visit the Galaxy Team HQ and talk to Captain Cyllene followed by Professor Laventon.

The professor will hand you the two starters you did not choose at the beginning of the game if you agree to bring them along to your excursions.

Can the Starter Rowlet be Shiny?

All Pokemon found through static encounters are shiny-locked, meaning they are unable to be shiny. This applies to the starter you choose from Professor Laventon at the start of the game.

Starters found through other means will have a chance to be shiny, but you won't be able to have a shiny starter join you on your adventure.

Should I Pick Rowlet as My Starter?

Choosing a starter Pokemon is one of the most important decisions every new trainer has to do at the start of their journeys.

While you will be able to build a team to accommodate for weaknesses, having a strong partner from the start can help ease your adventure. Here are some pros and cons to choosing Rowlet as your starter.

Best Starter Pokemon: Which Starter Should You Choose?

Pro: Great Offensive Typing

PLA - Rowlet.png
Rowlet stands out among the starters as the only one who starts out as a dual-typed Pokemon. It's Grass/Flying coverage allows it to have a strong move against most enemies that aren't a Steel-type.

Pro: Only one with an Immunity

Pokemon Legends Arceus Best Starter Rowlet.png
It's rare typing also gives it a useful immunity to the Ground-type, one of the strongest types in the game. Having an immunity can easily come in handy allowing for one-sided matches.

Con: Weak against many of the Alpha and Noble Pokemon

PLA - Alpha Glalie.png
The dual-typing that grants Rowlet its offensive edge is also, unfortunately, part of what holds it back defensively. With up to 5 weaknesses, it might be rather tough to raise. It also is the least equipped to handle the Frenzied Noble Kleavor, one of the big boss fights early in the game.

Rowlet Type and Basic Info

Rowlet - Description

PLA - Cinematic Rowlet.png

First introduced in Generation 7, Rowlet served as the Grass-type starter Pokemon in the Alola Region.

This round owl attacks by throwing its sharp blade-like feathers as projectiles against distant enemies. It rests during the day and silently hunts down prey at night.

Professor Laventon came to the Hisui Region bringing along Rowlet and other Pokemon he met in various other regions. He will entrust you with Rowlet if you choose it as your partner before you start your adventure!
