Unlock Condition

This request is unlocked after talking to Volo and Gaeric on your way to quelling the Noble Hisuian Avalugg during The Slumbering Lord of the Tundra mission. You must also have completed Request 78: Setting Up the Icepeak Camp beforehand.

Speak to the man at near the Icepeak Camp at Alabaster Icelands to start the request and try out the minigame.

Tips for Balloon Race Minigame

Balloon 6: Jump off the Cliff and Summon Braviary

The first five balloons are really easy to pop and do not require any special maneuvering. However, the 6th Balloon is rather high, so it is best to jump off the ledge to the left to pop it. Transform into Braviary at the jump to maintain your height until you reach the cliff.

Balloons 7 & 8: Summon Sneasler to Climb

When you are up against the cliff, immediately switch your mount to Sneasler. Climb up the cliff to pop Balloons 7 and 8. While you are climbing, get ready to change to Wyrdeer when you reach the top of the cliff.

Balloons 13 & 14: Double-Jump and Swerve Right

Starting at Balloon 12, you need to switch to Basculegion to surf on the water. You will need to perform a double jump to get both balloons 13 and 14. Jump once to get 13 and swerve to the right slightly and jump again to get the 14 balloon.

Balloons 17 & 18: Double-Jump then Summon Braviary

Like Ballons 13 and 14, you also need to double jump for these two, but this time you need to turn slightly to the left to get the higher balloon. Once you pop Balloon 18, immediately transform into Braviary to continue through the course.

Balloons 19-24: Do Not Dash

It is recommended not to dash during this point of the course in order to maintain a steady altitude with Braviary. Stay at regular speed and pop all the balloons in your path until the 24th.

Balloons 25-27: Swoop Down after 24

Immediately after popping Ballon 24, swoop down at a steep angle and pop Balloons 25 to 27. Try not to dash during this part of the course as well.

Balloons 29 & 30: Summon Braviary at the Jump

After landing on the platform, you will momentarily switch to your Wyrdeer mount. Jump to pop Balloon 29 then immediately switch to your Braviary mount and fly to Balloon 30 and pop it. If you have successfully popped all balloons up to this point, the request is complete.

Challenge the Minigame after the Request

After completing the request, you can return to the Icepeak Camp in Alabaster Icelands to challenge the minigame again. There are a total of 50 Balloons in the complete minigame, so you can attempt to beat the entire course.
