Preferred Foods are Food items that Pokemon like. Upon seeing these Food in the wild, Pokemon will approach the item and eat it, distracting them and raising the chance of being captured while they are busy eating.
Each Pokemon have a list of their own Preferred Food, which can be viewed in the Pokedex. To successfully lure a Pokemon, make sure to use Food that they like!

Using a Pokemon's preferred food can not only be used to lure them to certain positions, but can also improve catch rates. Using the base ingredients slightly improves catch rates, while using flavored cakes significantly improves catch rates. These preferred foods also distract the Pokemon longer than regular berries would.
How to Give Food: List of All Food Items
Each Pokemon has their own list of preferred foods from the five food items in the game.
Preferred Foods can be thrown in the field just like Poke Balls. Hold the ZR button to aim and release it to throw the item.
Each Pokemon have their own Preferred Food. If you throw Food that a Pokemon doesn't prefer, it will ignore it, so make sure that you have their Preferred Food equipped before throwing it!
