About Genshin's In-Game Chat

Genshin Impact is a game that you can play by yourself or with other players online, though multiplayer has to be unlocked by progressing the game.

When playing online, the most convenient way of communicating with fellow players is through the use of Game Chat, which is getting an update in Version 1.2.

How to Use the Chat

Here's a quick and simple guide on how to use the game's chat functions:

In-game Chat Bar

You can chat with your friends in real-time in just a push of a button! Simply tap or press the chat button (which indicated on top of the chat bar) and begin typing your message.

Sending Messages

After pressing the chat button, you can now type and send messages to your friends! You can also take a look at previous messages that have been sent, helping you check things you might have missed.

1.2 Chat Updates

The 1.2 Update will add more new features to make your chat experience much better.

Private Chat

Asides from chatting with your friends during your game session, you can also chat with them privately! You can send personal messages to them and even leave messages while they're offline.

Friend Notes

Your friends might change their nicknames frequently in the game, which can be confusing. A new feature allows you to place notes to help you remember their names.

This will surely make looking through your friends list less confusing!

Unlocking Online Multiplayer

Before you can access the game's chat functions, you need to unlock Online Multiplayer.

Unlock Online Co-Op

To unlock Online Co-Op, you must reach Adventure Rank 16, which means you have to clear story quests and commissions early in the game.

Note: PS4 players do not need PlayStation Plus to access online multiplayer. However, they are not be able to play with other PS4 players from different regions.
