How to Unlock The Pit of Anguish
Talk to Kyros in Upper Kurast

Unlock the The Pit of Anguish quest by talking to Kyros in Upper Kurast, Nahantu. Kyros is found sitting by on a set of stairs on the southeast of the World Tier Statue.

Clear The Festering Dark Stronghold
| 1 |
 Follow the quest marker and enter The Festering Dark stronghold. Pick up the Reliquary Lantern and follow the linear path north. |

 Place the Reliquary Lantern on the Warding Brazier. This will cause the lantern to move and remove obstructions in your path. Drop the lantern and kill enemies regularly to avoid getting overwhelmed. |
| 3 |
 You will need to utilize the Warding Brazier multiple times as you progress deeper in the stronghold. Refer to the image above to help you get your bearings and get to the boss. |

 Defeat the boss Maleficium by lighting the Warding Braziers in the arena. Be careful as the boss cannot be damaged if it's outside the range of the Warding Brazier. The Warding Braziers will eventually fizzle out so you'll have to keep lighting them! |
Investigate The Pit of Anguish

 Speak to Kyros after conquering the stronghold. He will then ask you to find the Opayal Ruins just to the north and investigate the Pit of Anguish. |

After entering the Pit of Anguish, interact with the corpses scattered inside. A wave of enemies will spawn every time you interact with one. You'll eventually find a Thief's Corpse which will drop the Jeweled Finger of Ezra-Kan. Pick it up and return to Kyros to conclude this quest. |
