I think in addition to signature weapons, you need some limited 5* characters with at least a couple of constellations to be able to beat the pink medal.
I got to agree here. I am not a whale but close to dolphin, my team vs this boss is my stongest one : - Neuvi C0 signature weapon, triple crown, great artifacts - Furina C0 signature, double crown, great artifacts - Baizhu C0 signature (didn't want that one xD), 6 8 9, great clam set - Kazuha C0 signature, 6 9 10, good triple EM VV set (950 EM) and I did 1:38. Usually I can get the pink medal with this team but not in this event, maybe I can make it but it's a hard one for sure.

It has nothing to do with you never going for the hardest difficulty. I always go for the hardest difficulty, I do ultra hardcore content in other games, I have a couple well-geared characters like Raiden, Furina, Bennet Xingqiu, Lynette (sadly my Wrio suffers here the worst) and still can barely scratch the boss. This event's highest difficulty is waaaaay too extreme and only something for whales or F2P players that play active for ages.
It's impossible for me to beat the hardest difficulty. Oh well. As long as I get something lol. That's why I never go for the hardest difficulties. Too much.
