Harbinger of Hatred is a Greater Lair Boss located in Nahantu in Diablo 4 (D4). Read on to learn about How to Summon Harbinger of Hatred, Harbinger of Hatred's location, unique drops, rewards, and how to beat Harbinger of Hatred.
Harbinger of Hatred Location and How to Summon
Harbinger's Den, Nahantu
The Interactive Map both shows the location of key points on the map, and doubles as a collectible checker.
- Click an icon on the right side to show all the pins of a specific type, or click the magnifying glass button to search for a specific pin by name.
- Click a pin on the map to see its name and description, and a relevant picture or video if available.
- From here, click Mark as Acquired to indicate that you've gotten a collectible already. This will change its icon on the map to show that it has been collected, and add 1 to that pin type's Counter.
- To undo this, click on the same pin and click Restore to unclaimed.
- To check how many pins you have marked so far, check the Counter in the bottom left, and click the icon that looks like a checklist to see counters for all pin types.
- If the collected pins start to get in the way, you can hide them all by clicking the green Show Pins button on the left side.

Harbinger of Hatred can only be found after reaching any Torment difficulty. Head to the Harbinger's Den dungeon, located in Nahantu, to fight Harbinger of Hatred. Like all other Uber Bosses, it is available on either the Eternal Realm or the Seasonal Realm.

How to Summon Harbinger of Hatred
To summon the Harbinger of Hatred, you simply need to interact with the Summoning Altar at the Harbinger's Den. However, to gain the Harbinger of Hatred's rewards, you must open the Harbinger of Hatred's Hoard using 3 Abhorrent Hearts. You can obtain Abhorrent Hearts from Urivar's Hoard, which appears after defeating Urivar activity.
Requires Progressing Vessel of Hatred Campaign
If you haven't battled the Harbinger of Hatred on the Vessel of Hatred's Campaign then you won't be able to summon it as a Lair Boss. However, a good alternative way to access the Harbinger of Hatred's Lair Boss fight is to join a different player's realm that has already battled Harbinger of Hatred during their campaign to be able to fight the lair boss.

The Harbinger's Hoard has a chance to drop Mythic Uniques. Additionally, opening the Harbinger's Hoard also has a chance to drop multiple Mythic Uniques!
If you are interested in target farming Mythic Unique Items, repeatedly defeating any of the Lair Bosses is an effective strategy.

Use Akarat's Light to Destroy the Portals
Once you reach a health threshold, the Harbinger of Hatred will disappear and summon multiple portals through the field. Each portal will send out wolves and projectiles to attack you so we do not recommend manually attacking the portals as it forces you to stay in place.
Make sure to pick up the light orb and use Akarat's Light and prioritize destroying all Large portals to bring back the Harbinger of Hatred into the field, allowing you enough time to dish out all your damage while it's knocked down.
Avoid the Triple Ground AoE
Whenever the Harbinger of Hatred is active in the field, it will summon three AoE ground effects in front that will explode after a few seconds. Make sure to dodge this and move away as fast as possible to help you survive the fight.
Invite Other Players
It's recommended to invite other players to your party to maximize the rewards when summoning Urivar. The item drops won't be tradable, but it will drop for all four players when done in a group, as opposed to just one when attempted solo.
Immunity Phase Replaced with Barriers
As of Season 10, all Immunity phases from Lair Bosses have been replaced with a Barrier system that powerful builds can easily burst down to finish the fight. Do note that this only includes specific bosses that had immunity phases such as Duriel, Andariel, and Harbinger of Hatred.
