Vaults are a new type of dungeon wherein you have to avoid deadly traps while killing hordes of enemies in Diablo 4 (D4) Season 3 update. Read on to learn about how Vaults work, how to unlock Vaults and the rewards you can get by completing Vaults!

Progress Through the Seasonal Quest

D4 - Progressing Through the Season 3 Questline
The first Vault dungeons can be unlocked by progressing through the new Seasonal Questline available in the Season 3 update. Assist Ayuzhan through various tasks and challenges to access these new dungeons.

Unlock Nightmare Vaults in World Tier 3

D4 - Nightmare Vault Dungeon
A deadlier version of the Vaults, known as Nightmare Vaults, is unlocked after reaching World Tier 3. These work similar to Nightmare Dungeons, where you have to acquire Vault Sigils to access. These are notably more difficult than the normal ones, but rest assured that your efforts will be well rewarded.

Take on the challenge and conquer the dungeons devised by Zoltun and Ayuzhan themselves!

How to Unlock Nightmare Vaults

Vault Rewards

Governing Stones

You can obtain Governing Stones by opening Wardwoven Chests found inside the Vaults. These are items that grant your Seneschal unique abilities that can take their combat or support capabilities to the next level.
All Governing Stones

Tuning Stones

Tuning Stones are another seasonal item that can be obtained by opening Wardwoven Chests. These stones are heavily tied to Governing Stones as they function as add-ons that can improve or completely change how the abilities you've equipped on your Seneschal function.

All Tuning Stones

Shattered Stones

The primary material needed to craft Uncertain Seneschal Stone Caches at the Jeweler. These caches will give you a random Governing or Tuning stone upon consume. These are dropped from constructs within Vaults and Arcane Tremors.

How to Farm Shattered Stones

Legendary Items

Wardwoven Chests, found at the end of Vaults, have increased drop chance for Legendaries. This is great to remember when farming Aspects you need to complete your build.

Opening Wardwoven Chests

D4 - Wardwoven Chests in Vault Dungeons
One of the key mechanics and rewards of this dungeon is opening Wardwoven Chests. These chests contain remarkable items that are definitely worth aiming for. To open them, you must first find a Zoltun Statues and get a buff called Zoltun's Warding by offering Pearls of Warding.

You must then keep Zoltun's Warding buff active by dodging Hazards found within the dungeon. Reach the Wardwoven Chest location with the buff active, and the rewards are yours for the taking!

Vault Sigils

Starting at World Tier 3, players gain access to Nightmare Vaults. These upgraded vaults contain Vault Sigils that are used as an access key into other vaults, similar to Nightmare Sigils.

Vault Sigils Can Be Crafted

Vault Sigils can also be crafted using Pearls of Warding from Arcane Tremors. You can craft them at Occultists located in any region major city hub in Sanctuary.

Dungeons with Hazards and Constructs

D4 - Vault Dungeons
Vaults are a new type of dungeon being introduced in the Season 3 update. In this dungeon, you'll go face-to-face with numerous Hazards, such as burning floors and explosive traps, and Constructs that are keeping intruders away from the riches hidden in the end such as Wardwoven Chests.

Once players reach World Tier 3 and above, vaults are upgraded to Nightmare Vaults that are more dangerous, but come with more rewards.
