Pearls of Warding can be obtained by defeating Heralds of Malphas or running Vaults during Season 3 of Diablo 4 (D4). Read on to learn more about Pearls of Warding including how to get and how to use them!
List of Contents
The easiest way to get Pearls of Warding is to defeat Heralds of Malphas in Arcane Tremors. These special elites can be summoned at Braziers inside the Arcane Tremor play area. Offer 3 Elemental Cores and 50 Shattered Stones to summon them.
On death, Heralds of Malphas will drop a Pearl of Warding, a Governing Stone, Gold, and a random item. At level 26+, these elites are also guaranteed to drop at least 1 Legendary item as of Patch 1.3.0a.
Arcane Tremors Guide and Rewards
Alternatively, you can opt to run Vaults as the Vault Coffer you get at the end will contain at least 2 Pearls of Warding. At WT3+, Vaults will sometimes be better since you'll be able to run Nightmare Vaults that also grant Paragon Glyph XP on completion.
Note: It will be the Vault Coffer and not the Wardwoven Chests that drop Pearls of Warding. Vault Coffers can be opened for free since they don't have a Zoltun's Warding cost (unlike Wardwoven Chests).
Pearls of Warding are used to get stacks of Zoltun's Warding from the Statue of Zoltun Kulle at the starting area of Vaults. As of Patch 1.3.0a, 1 Pearl of Warding will give you 10 Stacks of Zoltun's Warding.
Zoltun's Warding stacks are used to negate trap damage inside Vaults. Each instance of damage taken from traps will consume a stack of Zoltun's Warding. Additionally, stacks can be used to open Wardwoven chests found at the end of the Vault.
Chest Type | Zoltun's Warding Cost |
---|---|
Minor Wardwoven Chest | 1 Zoltun's Warding Stack |
Wardwoven Chest | 4 Zoltun's Warding Stacks |
Major Wardwoven Chest | 10 Zoltun's Warding Stacks |
As of Patch 1.3.0a, Pearls of Warding are no longer needed to challenge the Echo of Malphas in World Tier 4 (WT4). Instead of Pearls of Warding, the Vault of the Loom entrance fee has been changed to require Igneous Cores in the current version of the game.
Note: The Vault of the Loom and the Uber Malphas arena will have Wardwoven Chests for you to open. If you want all the rewards from the Malphas encounter, you'll need 1 stack per Minor Wardwoven Chest, and 10 stacks each for the two Major Wardwoven Chests.
