You can pet dogs in Diablo 4 (D4) by using the Hello Emote. Read on to learn more about how to pet dogs, as well as if you can pet other animals in the game.

Use the Hello Emote In Front of Dogs

You Can Pet the Dog

If you're wondering whether you can pet the pups wandering around towns like Kyovashad in Diablo IV, well, you can! Simply position your character directly facing a dog and select the Hello Emote from the Emote Wheel to pet it. This action will normally have your character wave, but when instead you will crouch down and give the pooch a well-deserved pat.

If you're having issues getting this to work, be sure to position your character very near any of the many dogs. It might take a few instances of repositioning, but it will work eventually. While there are no advantages to petting dogs, they will follow you around town for a short while afterward. That's a nice enough reward, isn't it?

How to Assign Emotes

Choose Hello from the Emote Wheel
Open up the Emote Wheel (Up on the d-pad or E for PC).

Customize Emote Wheel
By default, Hello should be on the Wheel. If not, select Customize, then choose Hello from the list of Emotes and press Assign.
3 Make sure to Save Changes. After that, you should be able to select Hello (or whatever Emote you want to use) from the Emote Wheel.
