Black Flame's Protection Lore

Lore Description
"A black flame incantation of the Godskin Apostles.

Summons black fire within, increasing phyiscal damage negation. However, sacred flasks and other such forms of HP restoration are impaired.

The Apostles were all embraced by the Gloam-Eyed Queen, and the black flame was their armor within."

Black Flame's Protection Effect

Black Flame's Protection summons a black flame that is used to enhance the user's physical damage negation. While active, it will increase your damage negation by 35% for 70 seconds but all forms of healing and flasks will be 20% less effective.

Black Flame's Protection can be obtained as a reward from Gideon Ofnir by traveling to Miquella's Haligtree.

After defeating Maliketh, the Black Blade, Gideon will disappear from his room at The Roundtable Hold. However, you will still be able to buy the spell from the Twin-Maiden Husk for 2500 Runes.

How to Use Black Flame's Protection

Buff Physical Defense

Elden Ring - Buff Physical Defense
This incantation is best used before getting into a fight against bosses or enemies that mostly deal physical attacks, such as Godfrey, First Elden Lord and Godrick the Grafted.

Black Flame's Protection is a good addition to most physical damage and tank builds as it grants a huge defense bonus to trade hits with your opponents. It does not give you additional Poise but can be supplemented by the Bull-Goat's Talisman.

Black Flame's Protection can be stacked with other damage negation increasing spells, such as Golden Vow and Rallying Standard.

Pair with Godslayer Seal
