"Incantation originating from the maddening Three Fingers. Releases a maddening shriek that causes madness buildup in foes nearby. This incantation also causes madness buildup in the caster and makes enemies more likely to target them. It is said that the sickness of the flame of frenzy began with Shabiri, the most reviled man in all history." |
Howl of Shabriri is an AoE Frenzied Flame incantation that emits a powerful scream which builds up the Madness bars of enemy players and NPC Invaders. Upon hit, it causes the enemy to flinch and take damage after they hear the scream. In PvE, the scream draws the aggro of nearby enemies, making them more likely to attack the caster.
Warning: Like all of the Frenzied Flame incantations, Madness buildup caused by the Howl of Shabriri also affects the caster. Watch your Madness bar when casting these in quick succession to prevent triggering the lengthy stun animation.

The Howl of Shabriri is in a chest on the second to the last floor of the Frenzy-Flaming Tower of the Liurina of the Lakes region. The nearest site of grace to this location would be in the Church of Inhibition. From there travel southeast to reach the tower. But be careful for there is a group of enemies on top of the tower that is casting a spell that inflicts madness on anyone within its radius.
Run to the top of the tower and kill the enemies first to prevent them from being inflicted with madness and then open the chest on the floor below.
List of All Status Effects and How to Cure
Madness, like Death Blight, is one of the few status effects that only affects players and invading NPCs. Normal enemies can take damage but cannot be driven to madness. As such, the Howl of Shabriri is primarily used by Madness builds in PvP. It is used to punish aggressive players by inducing madness that stuns them while draining their FP.
To effectively use this spell, equip items that build up your Focus like the Clarifying Horn Charm and the Mushroom Armor Set. Additionally, consumables like the Dappled White Cured Meat and Clarifying White Cured Meat can be eaten to raise your focus temporarily.
Players can boost the damage of the Howl of Shabriri by equipping the Frenzied Flame Seal. Since the best Faith-scaling seal is the Erdtree Seal, wield the Frenzied Flame Seal in your off-hand while casting with your primary seal to boost the damage of the Howl of Shabriri significantly.
Alternatively, Madness builds can upgrade the Frenzied Flame Seal to +10 and use it as their main casting seal. If this is your primary seal, the howl's damage can be boosted further by equipping the Roar Medallion.
