"One of the incantations of Dragon Communion. Transforms caster into a dragon to bite enemies before them. Incantations of those who have hunted dragons and feasted upon their hearts. Theirs is a pure and overwhelming power." |
Dragonmaw is a Dragon Communion incantation that turns the the caster into a large dragon head that crosses a large distance before chomping down on an enemy. When hit, enemies will take physical damage with a chance to flinch or stagger depending on their poise.

Dragonmaw can be obtained by exchanging 1 Dragon Heart at the Cathedral of Dragon Communion or Church of Dragon Communion.
Dragonmaw is one of two Dragon Incantations that deals physical damage to the enemy. Use it to deal damage to spell-resistant enemies during battle. During NPC invader battles, Dragonmaw can substitute as your physical damage, especially when using a build with low poise.
Unlike most of the Dragon Communion Incantations, Dragonmaw will grant you hyper armor while casting. Use this to your advantage to trade damage or stagger a charging opponent.
In PvP, Dragonmaw can also be used to suprise unfamiliar players with its hyper armor. Due to its extended range when charged, it can be the perfect surprise against players who aren't watching their spacing during the fight.
Depending on the poise of the enemy, a charged Dragonmaw can knock them back or stagger them. This is particularly useful if you want to interrupt casting animations or special attacks.
As of Patch 1.04, the chance to make opponents stagger after hitting them with a charged Dragonmaw has increased. For context, a fully-charged Dragonmaw can now stagger Crucible Knight Siluria when hit.
Players can boost the damage of Dragonmaw by equipping the Dragon Communion Seal. Since the best Faith-scaling seal is the Erdtree Seal, wield the Dragon Communion Seal in your off-hand while casting with your primary seal to boost Dragonmaw's damage significantly.
Since the seal's buff effect is passive, it is not necessary to upgrade your Dragon Communion Seal unless you will be using it as your primary casting seal.
