"One of the incantations of Dragon Communion. Transforms caster into a dragon to tear through foes with dragon claws. Allows one follow-up attack. Incantation of those who have hunted dragons and feasted upon their hearts. Theirs is a pusre and overwhelming power." |
Dragonclaw is a Dragon Communion incantation which conjures a large dragon arm that slams the ground in front of the caster. The slam hits in an AoE, dealing physical damage with the possiblity to flinch, stagger, or break the stance of your opponents. The cast button can be hit twice to immediately channel a second Dragonclaw after the first.

Dragonclaw can be obtained by exchanging 1 Dragon Heart at the Cathedral of Dragon Communion in Caelid, or at the Church of Dragon Communion in Limgrave.
Dragonclaw was buffed by Patch 1.04, increasing its chance to stagger enemies when fully charged. For Faith builds focused on casting, Dragonclaw is a great incantation to have since it can substitute as your physical damage and stance breaker in a pinch.
A few fully charged casts of Dragonclaw can break the stance of larger enemies provided you have a distraction or if you can tank their damage. Smaller enemies tend to get knocked down in an area-of-effect, making it a good counter to getting mobbed.
Unlike most of the Dragon Communion Incantations, Dragonclaw will grant you hyper armor at the apex of your casting animation. Use this to your advantage to trade damage or stagger the opponent when wearing a light armor set.
In PvP, Dragonclaw can also be used to suprise melee users with its hyper armor. Given most Incantations used to be easily cancelled by an R1, mix in a Dragonclaw cast and punish their aggressiveness with a heavy-hitting attack of your own.
A charged Dragonclaw can flatten players in PvP. Even wearers of the Veteran's Armor (the meta poise armor) get kocked down quite easily when hit with this incantation. Take advantage of the hyper armor granted by Dragonclaw to trade and make space against heavy armor users.
Players can boost the damage of Dragonclaw by equipping the Dragon Communion Seal. Since the best Faith-scaling seal is the Erdtree Seal, wield the Dragon Communion Seal in your off-hand while casting with your primary seal to boost Dragonclaw's damage significantly.
Since the seal's buff effect is passive, it is not necessary to upgrade your Dragon Communion Seal unless you will be using it as your primary casting seal.
