"One of the incantations of Dragon Communion. Transforms caster into a dragon to spew icy breath. Charging extends duration. Those extraordinary individuals who perpetuate Dragon Communion are called the dragon-hearted." |
Dragonice is a Dragon Cult incantation that allows the caster to transform into a dragon and spew icy breaths at enemies. The breaths deal damage upon hit while also building up and inflicting Frostbite to the target.
Dragonice can be obtained by exchanging 1 Dragon Heart at the Cathedral of Dragon Communion in Caelid.
Dragonice is used to build up frost on an enemy and inflict Frostbite. When frostbitten, enemies take increased damage from attacks making this particular incantation perfect when dealing with larger enemies.
However, a big disadvantage of Dragonice is that it has relatively low poise when cast, making it interruptible even by a light attack. Try casting this from a distance as most of the dragon breath incantations have a decepitvely long range despite the visuals of their particle effects.
Holding down L1 or R1 (depending on which hand is wielding the seal) will have you release two breaths instead of one. This makes frost buildup quicker, allowing you to proc frostbite early in the fight.
A charged Dragonice is best used when opening a fight since the enemy AI will not respond immediately to your outgoing damage. Alternatively, charged breaths can also be utilized if the enemy is sufficiently distracted by one of your summons.
The biggest advantage of this breath incantation is that it can be cast on horseback. Unlike the named version of this incantation called Borealis's Mist, Dragonice is much more versatile as it allows you to counter the incantation's high interruptibility with the mobility of Torrent.
For PvP, dragon breath incantations tend to be utilized if you are repelling an invader as a group. Since the incantation tracks well when locked on to an opponent, it can be used to zone and corner invaders, keeping them busy while your teammates go in for the kill.
Alternatively, as an invader, Dragonice can be used along tight corridors. Lead defenders into chokepoints and cast Dragonice where it is harder for them to dodge. You can even pair this with Ironjar Aromatics so the more aggressive players are punished if they try to knock you out of the casting animation.
Players can boost the damage of Dragonice by equipping the Dragon Communion Seal. Since the best Faith-scaling seal is the Erdtree Seal, wield the Dragon Communion Seal in your off-hand while casting with your primary seal to boost Dragonice's damage significantly.
Since the seal's buff effect is passive, it is not necessary to upgrade your Dragon Communion Seal unless you will be using it as your primary casting seal.
