Flame Fortification Lore

Lore Description
"Incantation of the Two Fingers' faithful.
Increases fire damage negation. This incantation can be cast while in motion.
Follow the path that has been set for you, and you will make enemies of all others: the monks, the sorcerers, the ancient dragon knights, and the scions of gold. Heed me ━ the Lands Between offers no welcome to the Tarnished."

Flame Fortification Effects

Flame Fortification slightly boosts your resistance to fire damage when applied. The buff lasts for a good duration and has a short casting animation when used.

How to Use Flame Fortification

Used when Facing Enemies with Fire Attacks

Flame Fortification

Flame Fortification is best used when dealing with enemies that use flame-based attacks. For players who have a minimal Faith investment for their builds, Flame Fortification can be used to reduce the damage dealt by flame attacks including the black flames wielded by Godskin enemies.

However, unlike other early-game defensive incantations, Flame Fortification isn't really a game changer. Barring a few explosive ballistas in Stormveil Castle, fire damage is few and far between when starting out a new game, making this defensive buff optional.

Can be Used for Early-Game PvP

One good use for Flame Fortification is to guard against one of the earliest anti-recovery incantations, Catch Flame. If you find yourself taking massive damage from players who wield it (or if you accidentally aggro NPC Varre), Flame Fortification can give you the edge needed to beat them during the fight.
