How to Beat Bartuc

Bartuc

Utilize the Blue Portals

Use the Blue Portals
Some of Bartuc's attacks can be difficult, or outright impossible to dodge depending on your current positioning. In order to dodge some of Bartuc's close range or successive attacks, use the blue portals in order to reposition yourself to either side of the arena.

Stay Mobile

Pick A Mobile Class

Bartuc's attacks can be evaded with ease when cast individually. It is challenging to evade attacks when Bertuc starts to use his attacks in conjunction with one another. For prolonged fights against Bertuc, we recommend a build with built-in mobility, such as the Rogue's Deathmask Flurry build.

Mechanics Can Be Bypassed

One Shot

If your damage is high enough, you can defeat Bartuc before he begins executing his mechanics. This feature notably reduces the time required for repeat runs, as it eliminates the need to deal with invulnerability phases.

Immunity Phase Replaced with Barriers

Diablo 4 Immunity Phase Replaced with Barriers

As of Season 10, all Immunity phases from Lair Bosses have been replaced with a Barrier system that powerful builds can easily burst down to finish the fight. Do note that this only includes specific bosses that had immunity phases such as Duriel, Andariel, and Harbinger of Hatred.

Bartuc Attack Patterns

Basic Fireball

Bartuc throws a series of fireballs that don't do much damage and are easy to avoid. It's difficult to keep track when it's used with other attacks because the fireballs are hard to see so, watch out for them.

Lightning Wave

Bartuc makes a wave of lightning that goes across the screen, starting on the left or the right. These attacks go from one end of the screen to the other and can't be dodged, so use the blue portals to avoid taking damage.

Ball Portal

Bartuc utilizes colored portals, one blue and one red, from which he will launch a green ball. Balls launched from the blue portal will disappear once they reach the end of the portal in the opposite direction from which they were spawned. In the case of the red portal, the balls will continue to travel across the screen.

Ball Cascade

Bartuc will only use this move when he is in the middle of the arena. He will create colored portals that will send the green balls traveling in a circular sweeping motion. The blue portal balls will appear near him, and the red portals will appear near the edge.

Stay in the middle to avoid both balls, then move to the edge of the arena once the red portal balls start to move closer to the center.

Spell Cascade

Like the Ball Cascade, Bartuc will only use this move when he is in the middle of the arena. He will go invulnerable and start throwing out fiery waves that travel in a sweeping motion. Keep moving and use the blue portals to dodge until the attack is done.

Following the completion of the attack, Bartuc will be momentarily stunned for a few seconds. Take advantage of this opportunity to inflict some damage without interference.
