What We Learned From the April Developer Update |

The livestream started off by discussing Capstone Dungeons. Players unlock these Dungeons as they reach a World Tier's level cap, and completing them unlocks the next World Tier for players to venture through.
Note that these Dungeons are considerably more difficult than the regular Dungeons found in Diablo 4's open world. These characteristics make them excellent tests for ensuring your character can handle higher World Tiers.
The developers also revealed more details about Sacred and Ancestral Items, two new sets of Item Tiers. Sacred Items drop starting from World Tier 3, while Ancestral Items drop starting from World Tier 4.
These two Item Tiers are unique as their level requirements are set at the level at which you loot the item, while their power level makes them viable even up to 20 levels higher. These characteristics make them great for trading with other players.
Afterward, the developers revealed new Legendary and Unique Items and gave a short overview of their details. In particular, they mentioned that more Legendary Powers appear at World Tier 3 and higher and that Uniques only drop starting from World Tier 3.
More details of the Helltide Event were also revealed during the livestream. The Helltide Event is a timed endgame event, unlocked at Nightmare Tier, that allows players to target-farm Legendary items for specific equipment slots.
Killing enemies during Helltide rewards players with Cinders, which they can use to open Helltide Caches that contain Legendary items for particular item slots. However, since players lose half of their Cinders on death, they have to manage their resources carefully to gain massive rewards.
The developers also discussed Nightmare Dungeons, which they described as the game's "key dungeon replayability system." By completing Whispers of the Dead in World Tiers 3 and 4, players gain access to Nightmare Sigils, which they can use to transform specific dungeons into Nightmare Dungeons.
Nightmare Sigils modify dungeons by limiting player revives, locking enemy levels, and providing various Dungeon Affixes that increase difficulty. In addition, players can salvage these Sigils at the Occultist to make new random Sigils.
Paragon Glyphs, a new addition to Paragon Boards, were introduced in this livestream. Players can place these Glyphs into Glyph Sockets, becoming powered by nearby Paragon nodes and empowering nearby nodes in a large circular radius.
Aside from their unique bonuses, Paragon Glyphs also feature stat requirements, which provide even more enhancements when met. In addition, you can upgrade these Glyphs at the end of Nightmare Dungeons.
The developers took some time to talk about what they learned from the Open Beta and showed their list of general and class changes, as seen in the image above.
In this section of the livestream, they also discussed a few upcoming changes to Dungeon layouts to improve their natural progresssion, the addition of Dungeon reset timers after removing the Reset Dungeon button, and had a short Q&A session afterward.
All Post-Beta Changes and Class Balances
To wrap up the livestream, the developers announced the upcoming Server Slam from May 12 to 14. During this event, players can play Diablo 4 one more time before launch to stress-test the game's servers and experience some of the changes discussed in the livestream.
In addition, those participating in the Server Slam are eligible to receive the previous Early Access and Open Beta rewards and the new Cry of Ashava Mount Trophy for defeating Ashava the Pestilent with a level 20 character.
