Astral Pillar is a Catalyst-type Horadric Spell in Diablo 4 (D4), introduced in Season 9: Sins of the Horadrim. Learn about the Astral Pillar's effects, and how to obtain and upgrade it here.

Effect Shape and Ethereal Column that Taunts for 3 seconds.Piercing waves flow from it and deal 13,704 damage, until you create another one or move too far away.
At Rank 10: The Taunted enemies become Vulnerable and move faster.
Cooldown 7 seconds
Type Catalyst

Catalysts, such as Astral Pillar, are the foundation of each Horadric Spell which gives it the primary function. You can customize its effect using Infusions and Arcana.

This spell's effect can be further improved by upgrading it from the Horadric Spellcraft menu.

Legendary Arcana Unique Effects

Legendary Arcana Special Effect
Floaty Bobble Floaty Bobble Astral Pillar blinks you to your target and leaves the Ethereal Column behind while granting Unhindered.
Nightmare Orb Nightmare Orb Every 9th wave from your Astral Pillar Fears. Enemies close to it are Taunted and have their Fear removed.
Frigid Heart Frigid Heart Astral Pillar Freezes surrounding enemies when removed. Each successful Freeze increases your Lucky Hit Chance by 5% for 10 seconds, up to 25%.
Pressurized Steam Pressurized Steam Astral Pillar waves have a 30% chance to Stun and are guaranteed to Overpower Stunned enemies.
Bloody Charm Bloody Charm Astral Pillar will launch additional waves towards Executable non-Boss enemies to Execute them.

Aside from Infusions and Arcana spells, you can farther customize Astral Pillar by using Legendary Arcana to give it more effects. You can obtain these Legendary Arcana as random rewards from Horadric Strongrooms after reaching Tier 6 in the Horadric Knowledge reputation system.

How to Get Astral Pillar

Complete the “Bearing the Weight of Ghosts” Seasonal Quest

Strongroom Spellcraft Reward
Obtain the Astral Pillar spell by completing Season 9's Bearing the Weight of Ghosts Seasonal Quest. This series of quests will mostly revolve around clearing Horadric Strongrooms and talking to Bryona in Cerrigar during the early game until you unlock all the Catalyst and Infusion Spellcraft.

Upgrading Horadric Spellcraft

Astral Pillar can be further improved by upgrading it up to Rank 20. You can upgrade Horadric Spells by selecting them on the Horadric Spellcraft Menu and pressing the Upgrade Power button.
