This is a walkthrough for the quest Of Lambs and Wolves in Diablo 4 (D4) Season 5. Read on to discover how to unlock the questline and learn about the quests you must complete to play Season 5.

Of Lambs and Wolves

A season 5 character will start in Zarbinzet instead of Kyovashad. In Zarbinzet you'll meet NPCs that will start the Season 5 questline and introduce you to the Season 5 Mother's Gift mechanic.
Approach the Reinforced Door Bug
There is a bug where you won't be able to interact with the reinforced door during Of Lambs and Wolves. To resolve this issue, teleport back to town and walk your way to the objective. Though the bug has no definite cause, it is similar to other issues when mounted on your horse.
The Rising Hells

You'll need to collect Mother's Gifts after certain quests to progress the questline. You can obtain Mother's Gifts by killing Elites and Bosses in either the Infernal Hordes, Helltide, or Dungeons. You can do this quest whenever you're farming gear or Legendary Aspects for your Codex of Power.
How to Farm Mother's Gifts Fast
The Past Behind Us

Speak to Istel and collect your rewards from the Mother's Gift reward board. Afterward head to the Omath Breach located southeast of Kehjistan, near the Omath's Redoubt Stronghold.
The Seething Mountain

| ① Meet Istel on Mt. Civo ② Find the entrance to The Civo Breach  ④ Speak with Istel about the Burning Aether |
Speak with Istel on Mt. Civo in Dry Steppes and she will accompany you in the Civo Breach.You'll need to collect Aether from Aetheric Masses inside the Hellbreach to finish the dungeon and progress the questline.
An Old and Angry Wound

Return to Istel in Zarbinzet after collecting 150 Mother's Gifts and collect your reward. Afterward, you'll need to clear the Dulra Breach, found just south of the Tur Dulra Stronghold in Scosglen. Unlike the Civo Breach, you'll be collecting Aether from Aether Fiends which are modified Elite enemies.
Sins of the Willing

Return to Istel in Zarbinzet after collecting 400 Mother's Gifts and collect your reward. Go to Locran's house again to learn of Istel's findings and stop their ritual. Speak to Istel after defeating her to proceed to the next questline.
The Wages of Hatred

Istel can be found on the path from the right of the Zarbinzet town portal. Interact with her to proceed with the next objective, then go to the Occultist area in Zarbinzet to interact with Istel's Grimoire and complete the Season 5 questline.
Season 5 Questline Rewards
Resource Caches, Unique and Legendary Items
Completing the Season 5 Questline will reward players with resource cachesand unique items legendary items which can be useful in their journey for endgame.
Remember that even if the rewarded legendary items have a different name, their effects are often the same as existing Legendary Aspects.
How to Unlock Season 5 Quests
Finish The Campaign to Unlock the Story
You can access the Season 5 Questline by completing the Epilogue from the game's main storyline. However, any Seasonal Character can immediately access the Season Journey and the Battle Pass.
Use a Seasonal Character
You can only access the Season 5 content by using a character from the Seasonal Realm. This means that you have to create a new Seasonal Character.
How to Create a Seasonal Character
You Can Skip The Campaign
Once you've completed the campaign on any of your characters, you are eligible to skip the entire campaign when creating new characters. This feature also carries over to new Seasonal Characters that you create, allowing you to immediately access the new content without playing through the main story.
