Prioritize Dungeon Bounties

When grinding Grim Favors for the Tree of Whispers, we recommend only completing Dungeon bounties. Dungeons don't take too long to complete and instantly reward 5 Grim Favors on completion, making them the most efficient Whisper to do.

In addition, note that Grim Favors carry over from region to region, so hopping around the World Map to complete Dungeon bounties is a viable and efficient strategy.

Complete Whispers During Helltide

We also recommend completing Whispers of the Dead bounties during Helltide. With Helltide primarily consisting of killing enemy groups and completing World Events, its activities have plenty of overlap with overworld Whispers, allowing you to work toward earning Aberrant Cinders and Grim Favors at once.

Consider Fields of Hatred Bounties

If you enjoy PvP or want to mix up the usual Whispers of the Dead grind, consider completing bounties in the Fields of Hatred while grinding for Red Dust. While risky, killing the Seething Abomination and purifying Seeds of Hatred provide a decent amount of Grim Favors toward your next reward cache.

Avoid Whispers with Low Grim Favor Rewards

Most Whispers that reward 1 or 3 Grim Favors aren't often worth it due to the effort and time they take to complete. We only recommend completing these Whispers if they overlap with another activity you're doing, such as Side Quests or Helltide events, or if you only need a few more Grim Favors before you can turn them in at the Tree.

How to Turn In Whispers

Bring Grim Favors to the Tree of Whispers

After collecting 10 Grim Favors from Whispers of the Dead bounties, you can turn them in at the Tree of Whispers. Offering Favors at the Tree rewards you with your choice of one of three Grand Caches, which contain gear for a specific item slot, Gems, Gold, Upgrade Materials, and even Nightmare Sigils (in World Tier 3).

Prioritize Greater Collection Rewards

When choosing between caches at the Tree of Whispers, we recommend prioritizing Greater Collection Grand Caches, as they always reward at least one Legendary item when opened.
