PS5 and Xbox Series X|S Upgrade Released with Patch 1.5

The game's Patch 1.5, released on February 15, 2022 at 4:00 PM GMT, brought a lot of updates; these includes the release of versions for the next-gen consoles: PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Many features are only available for these consoles, such as enhancements like dynamic 4K scaling and ray-tracing features, faster loading times, better reflections, among others.

All Copies are Compatible with Next-Gen Consoles

According to Cyberpunk 2077's official website and Twitter account, all copies of Cyberpunk 2077 released are compatible with next-gen consoles, including both the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

This means that if you bought the PS4 version of the game, you can upgrade to and play the PS5 version of the game in your PS5 for free!

How to Upgrade to Next-Gen Version

PS4 to PS5 Upgrade

If you want to upgrade your PS4 copy to a PS5 version, you'll have to download and install the PS5 version, which should appear in your library whether you have a digital or disc version.

If you have a save file in your PS4 version that you want to transfer, you'll have to export your save file to the cloud, then import and load it in your PS5 version. Once you have installed the PS5 version, feel free to uninstall the PS4 version from your console.

Note that if you own the disc version of Cyberpunk 2077, you will need to insert the Cyberpunk 2077 Play Disc for PS4 into your PS5 console whenever you want to play the next-gen version.

Xbox One to Xbox Series X/S Upgrade

On Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, Cyberpunk 2077 will automatically update to Patch 1.5, containing all next-gen features. Your saves will also automatically carry over to the next-gen version of the game. You don't need to install a new copy of the game like the PS5.

Note that if you own the disc version of Cyberpunk 2077, you will need to insert the Cyberpunk 2077 Play Disc for Xbox One into your Xbox Series X console whenever you want to play the next-gen version.

Is Patch 2.0 and Phantom Liberty Available for Last-Gen?

2.0 and Phantom Liberty Not Available for PS4 and Xbox One

Unfortunately for PS4 and Xbox One users, support for previous-gen versions of the game was stopped back in Patch 1.6, the Edgerunners Update. CDPR has confirmed that said patch was the last update that previous-gen consoles will get.

If you're still playing an old version of the game, make sure to upgrade to a next-gen version so that you can enjoy the massive overhaul brought by Patch 2.0, and if you want to play the Phantom Liberty DLC.
