Is Cyberpunk 2077 Multiplayer Cancelled?

CD Projekt Red: Multiplayer Is On Hold

“Previously, we hinted that our next plan will be a multiplayer Cyberpunk game. But, we have decided to reconsider this plan given our more systemic and agile approach instead of primarily focusing on one big online experience or game.”

As per CD Projekt Red's announcement, multipayer features for their games will be put on hold or possibly even be cancelled. This largely in part due to the changes in the team's roadmap for 2021 which focuses more on dealing with patches, issues, and improving over-all gameplay after the difficulties experienced on the release of Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk 2077 Multiplayer Features

Cyberpunk Multiplayer as a standalone release!

CD Projekt Red has confirmed in a tweet back in September 2019 that a multiplayer component for Cyberpunk 2077 is in the works.

However, as stated above, the development of this feature is currently put on hold.

No Confirmed Details for Features

Very little has been revealed about Cyberpunk Multiplayer's gameplay components, but so far it is being treated as a standalone release. Expectations are a bit steep given the problems encountered by the game in its early stages.

No Local Co-op for Cyberpunk 2077

The base game that will be released on launch day will include only the Single-Player experience of the game.

Release Expected for Post-2022

There is no concrete release date yet for the multiplayer feature but with the delay in development as mentioned in the video above, it is most likely to be released (if it will be) 2022 and beyond.
