List of Contents
To begin upgrading your Iconic Weapons in Update 2.0, head on over to the Crafting Menu. From the Game Menu, go to Inventory > Crafting to reach this menu. Once there, switch over to the Upgrades Tab to see all the Iconic Weapons that can be upgraded.
If you don't see the iconic weapon you want to upgrade in the Upgrades Tab, then make sure you actually have it in your backpack. Iconic Weapons stored in your Stash will not appear in the Upgrades Tab.
Once you see the Iconic Weapon you want to upgrade from the list, simply hover over its icon and select it for the upgrade. Spend the indicated amount of item components to raise the Tier of the iconic weapon.
How to Farm Item Components Fast
Upgrade costs are much more expensive after Update 2.0. Players will start feeling the item component drought when they try to upgrade iconic weapons past Tier 5. Check out the item component cost breakdown for Tier 5+ and 5++ upgrades, below:
Upgrade | Item Component Cost |
---|---|
Tier 5 ▶ Tier 5+ |
75 Tier 5 Item Components Breakdown by Tier: ・375 Tier 4 Item Components ・1,875 Tier 3 Item Components ・9,375 Tier 2 Item Components ・46,875 Tier 1 Item Components |
Tier 5+ ▶ Tier 5++ |
200 Tier 5 Item Components Breakdown by Tier: ・1,000 Tier 4 Item Components ・5,000 Tier 3 Item Components ・25,000 Tier 2 Item Components ・125,000 Tier 1 Item Components |
Once your Iconic weapon reaches Tier 5++, they will no longer appear in the Upgrades menu of the Crafting screen. Tier 5++ is the max upgrade level for items in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.
Notice from Game8 | If you see one of your Tier 5 Iconic Weapons only needing Tier 4 Item Components to upgrade to Tier 5+, then you most likely have this upgrade bug. |
---|
Players who previously had low-tier iconic weapons from pre-update 2.0 save games will notice that they got their weapon tiers bumped up to Tier 5 after the game was patched.
While great on paper, this introduces a bug to the new upgrade system where it classifies these bumped-up weapons as Tier 5 Iconic, but only requires 75 Tier 4 Item Components to upgrade to Tier 5+.
When this happens, you will be able to upgrade to Tier 5+ for cheap. However, the next upgrade will be bugged, showing that you now need to downgrade from Tier 5+ to Tier 5.
In order to get the non-bugged upgrade progression, players will need to downgrade back to Tier 5, then spend the real cost of 75 Tier 5 Item Components to reach Tier 5+. The progression goes like this:
Since the bugged upgrade still gives you the correct Tier 5+ stats, players who only want Tier 5+ iconic weapons can ignore this bug since it allows some of the bugged items to be upgraded for cheap.
