Quest Objectives

1. Call a Netrunner to Help Breach MaxTac
2. Meet Up with the Netrunner then Message Reed
3. Meet Reed at the Abandoned Hotel
4. Talk to Reed Then Wait for the Convoy
5. Defeat the NCPD Escort
6. Defeat the MaxTac Operators

1. Call a Netrunner to Help Breach MaxTac

To begin this quest, you'll need to call a netrunner from your contacts to help you breach MaxTac. The options on which netrunners are available to you will depend on your progress in the base game. For players that chose to start the DLC without any base game progress, you'll have three options: Nix, Carol, and Chang-Hoon.

You can call any of the three netrunners but once you tell them of the mission, they'll be apprehensive towards helping you. You can convince Nix and Chang-Hoon to help while Carol refuses entirely though she will send you something that can help with the quest.

Call Mr. Hands

Alternatively, you can opt to call Mr. Hands and enlist the help of a netrunner working for him — at the cost of 15000 eddies.

2. Meet Up with the Netrunner then Message Reed

After selecting a netrunner, follow the objective marker to the location of the meeting and talk to the netrunner. Once you've arrived at the meeting place, collect the data shard then pull up your phone and send Reed a message. After Reed replies, wait for him to send another message then reply to him. He'll ask to meet at an abandoned hotel.

4. Meet Reed at the Abandoned Hotel

Meet up with Reed at the hotel located beside the West Wing Apartments data term in Pacifica. Head to the top of the hotel and enter the room on the roof.

5. Talk to Reed Then Wait for the Convoy

Enter the room and talk to Reed and Gunner. After a some dialogue, you'll walk out the room and Reed will introduce you to a member of the 6th Street Gang. He'll then give you some more details on the ambush.

After you're done talking, walk over to Reed, talk to him once more, then wait for the convoy.

6. Defeat the NCPD Escort

After a short time skip from waiting for the escort, Songbird will get in touch with you and after talking for a bit, the ambush on the convoy will begin. Once the ambush starts, you'll need to defeat all the NCPD officers in the escort.

7. Defeat the MaxTac Operators

After clearing the NCPD officers, make your way to the truck's rear end doors and once you open them you'll be greeted by MaxTac Operators. Defeat all of the Operators to move on to the next objective.

8. Follow Traces Left by Songbird

Once you've defeated all of the MaxTac Operators, follow the objective markers to the traces left by Songbird to complete this quest.

Tips and Strategies for Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos

Attack MaxTac Operators With Hacked Cyberware

During the objective where you have to fight the MaxTac operators, any quickhacks by yourself won't affect any of them. While you can fight Operators without the use of quickhacks, it would be much more feasible to attack them with it.

Distance yourself from them and wait for Reed to neutralize their cyberware then attack which ever enemy is vulnerable. Enemies that Reed hacks are distinguishable by a visible red laser that tracks them as they move.
