Players can encounter a bug in Diablo 4 Season of the Malignant with their smoldering ashes suddenly disappearing. Read on to find out what causes this bug and how to fix it!

How does it Happen

Smoldering Ashes Disappearing Bug

You can lose your unspent Smoldering Ashes by changing world tiers or exiting to character select. Once lost, your unspent Smoldering Ashes will not show in the seasonal tab and you will be unable to allocate them.

How to Fix Lost Smoldering Ashes

Exit to Character Select

This bug can be resolved by exiting the game to the Character Select screen and re-entering the game. We’ve confirmed that this fix still works in Patch 1.1.1 after multiple tests.

Restart the Game

Another solution to the bug is to exit the game completely and start it again, this works similarly to exiting to character select.

Just experienced this bug, and you can also unallocate a point to force it to reset without exiting the game.
