The Broken Carving drops from a random chest or corpse in The Downs. Where we found it may differ from where you will find it.

You need to pick up the Broken Carving item to begin the quest.

Diablo 4 - Broken Carving
Open Chests or Interact with Corpses in The Downs area of Scosglen. One will drop the Broken Carving randomly. Pick it up to begin the quest.

Diablo 4 - Artair Map Location
Bring the Broken Carving to Artair
Head to Wraithstead and talk to Artair.

Diablo 4 - Talk to Artair
Returning the carving to Artair will complete the quest and reward you with a Salvage Cache.

After completing this quest, you can search for the next broken item to trigger Artair's next quest, A Different Beast which has similar objectives.
