The Stolen Artifice quest can immediately be started in Braestaig by simply talking to Merryn.

| 1 | Talk to Merryn Talk to Merryn in Braestaig to start the quest. |
| 2 |  Take the Runic Charm from Darcel Travel northwest to find Darcel. |
| 3 |  Defeat Darcel Defeat Darcel and his summons. Once Darcel is defeated, the Runic Charm will drop from his corpse. |
| 4 |  Return to Merryn Bring the Runic Charm back to Merryn to finish the quest. |
On June 3, 2023, the Stolen Artifice side quest was disabled by the development team, due to the Multiple Darcels bug. The side quest was enabled again as of the June 4 Server-side Hotfix.

On the official Blizzard forum, players have reported a bug during the battle with Darcel that causes Darcel to spawn multiple times, reportedly ranging from 20~50 at a time.
