Outfits (Special Clothing) |
Head Clothing or Headwear consists of caps, hats, and helmets. As of Update 2.0, they are now one of the only clothing pieces that can provide bonuses to your stats when equipped.
Naturally, the bonuses will vary depending on the type of headwear. For example, reinforced metal helmets can give you either bonus armor or bonus melee damage resistance.
Face Clothing or Eyewear consists of glasses, shades, masks, ocusets, BD wreaths, and tech goggles. Like headwear, Face Clothing is one of the only remaining clothing types that still provides stat bonuses.
However, unlike headwear, Face Clothing gives you a different set of bonuses. Depending on the type of equipped eyewear, bonuses can either be faster quickhack upload speeds or increased weapon zoom.
Outer Torso Clothing consists of coats, suits, ballistic vests, and harnesses. As of Update 2.0, they are are one of the only clothing pieces that can provide bonuses to your stats when equipped.
Ballistic Vests grant their wearers bonus armor, while tactical harnesses allow you to reduce your weapon reload time when equipped.
Inner Torso Clothing consists of shirts, bras, bustiers, and netrunning suits. Out of all the selections, only netrunning suits will have a bonus when equipped, granting your character bonus quickhack damage resistance once suited up.
Leg Clothing or Legwear consists of pants, skirts, and shorts. As of Update 2.0, legwear will no longer grant bonus stats. They are now purely cosmetic.
Feet Clothing or Footwear consists of boots, sneakers, and pumps. Like legwear, footwear in Update 2.0 are purely cosmetic, granting no bonus stats on equip.
Outfits are mostly full ensembles that go over your typical clothing (often overwriting what your original get-up looks like). A lot of these outfits can be obtained by progressing through the game like the Militech Suit you get during The Heist mission in Act 1.
There are 4 types of Clothing you can equip on your character, Head, Upper Body, Lower Body, and Special. Besides Special, each category splits into 2 slots, allowing more options for clothing customizability.
Clothing Slot | No. of Slots |
---|---|
Head | 2 (Head, Face) |
Upper Body | 2 (Outer Torso, Inner Torso) |
Lower Body | 2 (Legs, Feet) |
Special | 1 |
Clothing is divided into different rarity based on its quality:
Clothing can also have an Iconic Rating separate from its rarity. While these clothing are unique, it's possible to have Iconic Clothing be any rarity, even Uncommon or Common.
Update 2.0 introduced an Armor and Clothing overhaul that removed the primary Armor Stat from clothing, tying it to Cyberware instead. Now, most clothes are purely cosmetic, allowing players to prioritize fashion without compromising their builds.
Despite most clothing being turned into cosmetics, some types like Head, Face, and Outer Torso clothing pieces will still get minor bonuses. For example, bulletproof vests will offer bonus armor, tactical vests will give you quicker reloads, and Netrunner visors offer faster quickhack upload times.
As you level up, the quality of the clothing you find in Night City will start increasing in rarity. Any bonuses you get from these clothing (such as bonus armor) will also increase depending on the rarity of the clothing. For example, a legendary plated vest will offer more bonus armor than a common one.
Since loot scales with your character level, this new system provides a more natural progression curve compared to the older versions of the game.
Again, with clothing taking the backseat when it comes to the Armor Stat, clothing mods have been entirely removed from the game. It is no longer possible slot in mods since bonuses from Update 2.0 onwards will be very minor.
Additionally, clothing can no longer be crafted in Update 2.0. Since it's now form over function, crafting is now solely restricted for quickhacks, weapon mods, and weapons.
The Wardrobe is a feature that allows you to change clothes; these are available in V's apartments, and as of 2.0, with clothing vendors.
In the wardrobe, you're able to access the Transmog feature, which allows you to make the current clothing you have appear as a different one.
Cyberpunk 2077 Guide & Walkthrough
You say upgrading the rarity tier doesnt change the stats, only mod slots, but my Johnny's Aviators default blue are 35.6 AR and if I craft Epic it is 47.1 AR, then it stays the same at legendary. So IDK, it does seem they get more AR at Epic level at least.
