| Mitsurugi Mirror | |
|---|---|
|
|
Mitsurugi Mirror is a staple copy in a Pure Mitsurugi Deck at 1 copy, and it's all that's needed due to it being easily searchable with Pre-Preparation of Rites. If any of the three named Mitsurugi Ritual monsters are tributed while this card is in the GY, this card is shuffled into the Deck. This makes it searchable again with Pre-Prep, and that makes access to Habakiri easier. |
| Mitsurugi Magatama | |
|
|
Mitsurugi Magatama destroys a card by tributing a Reptile monster you control, which would often be your Mitsurugi Ritual monsters. It also acts as a Quick-Play version of a Ritual Spell for Mitsurugi, allowing them to summon a Mitsurugi Ritual monster from the hand during the opponent's turn; perfect conditions for Ame no Murakumo to use its monster-wiping effect. |
| Ragnaraika Wicked Butterfly | |
|
|
Ragnaraika Wicked Butterfly can discard itself to Special Summon a Reptile monster from the hand, which can be any of the non-Ritual monsters from the archetype. It does provide an additional draw if this card gets banished from the hand or GY, but for the most part this monster could be an additional body for the Rank 4 Xyz monsters, especailly for King of the Feral Imps. |
| Ragnaraika Chain Coils | |
|
|
Ragnaraika Chain Coils is an optional monster to consider if you want to add more Link monsters into the Extra Deck. Its ability to disable monster effect activations from the hand triggers can turn off Quick-Play Spells, hand traps and specific Trap Cards like Infinite Impermanence and the Dominus cards. |
| Mitsurugi no Miko, Wousu | |
|
|
Mitsurugi no Miko, Wousu is an optional monster for the Mitsurugi archetype, and it acts like a Kaiju or a Lava Golem. It locks the player out of non-Reptile monsters, but it removes a pesky boss monster the opponent controls. When tributed, it can discard a card to recycle this card back from the GY. |

The core cards for the Ryzeal side of the Deck, but to make room for the Mitsurugi cards some of the staple cards that should be at 3 copies are now down to 2.
Especially potent is Ext Ryzeal as without even activating an effect it dumps a card from the Extra Deck to the GY, usually to send Mereologic Aggregator to negate a card while you get to summon a body on board.
![]() |
![]() |
Node Ryzeal and Star Ryzeal are more for supplementing the archetype's playstyle. Node Ryzeal can Special Summon itself if you already control an Xyz Monster, and can Special Summon a fellow Ryzeal monster from the GY with negated effects. This is crucially imporant if you already have the Xyz Monsters on the field.
![]() |
![]() |
Ryzeal Cross provides draw and a way to shuffle back Ryzeal cards from the GY to the Deck. It also provides a monster effect negation, provided you have an Xyz monster with attached materials.
Should one of your Ryzeal Xyz monsters be in the GY, they can be revived and have a material attached by activating Ryzeal Plugin. This can be used offensively or defensively, as it can help a Ryzeal monster evade targeted effects like Called by the Grave.
![]() |
![]() |
The kingpins of the Ryzeal cards are the two Xyz monsters: Ryzeal Duo Drive and Ryzeal Detonator.
Ryzeal Duo Drive is the archetype's best searcher, as it can add up to two Ryzeal cards from the Deck to hand. It also boosts your monsters' ATK while lowering the opponent's at the same time.
The bigger monster is Ryzeal Detonator, whose card destruction effect can be used once per chain, so long it has attached materials to detach. It can also protect itself and your other Xyz Monsters from card destruction once per turn, provided it also has attached materials.
![]() |
![]() |
If this were a regular Ryzeal Deck, one of the Rank 4 Xyz Monsters that could accompany Duo Drive and Detonator is Starliege Photon Blast Dragon, which provides protection from card destruction effects on top of Detonator's own saving effect.
Instead, with two extra Level 4 monsters on the field, they can be used to transition into the Mitsurugi cards using King of the Feral Imps. Its search effect looks for a Reptile-type monster, which leads to search out Ame no Habakiri to hand.

The good thing about Ryzeal is that they do not impose any summon restriction for the Main Deck. This means once the player has Habakiri on hand after doing a full Ryzeal combo, they can immediately get things going to summon the Ryzeal boss monsters as soon as possible.

It cannot be understated how good of a card Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi is to enable the Deck. Already on the hand it has a Special Summon straight from the Deck, on top of its effect to Special Summon itself after getting Tributed.
Ame no Murakumo no Mitsurugi is the proper boss monster that Habakiri wants to get going onto the field as soon as possible. It nukes all the monsters the opponent controls on Special Summon, and it forces the opponent to discard a card to let an effect resolve once-per-turn.
Players can opt out of adding Futsu no Mitama no Mitsurugi, but we reckon its still part of the core strategy of the Mitsurugi cards. After all, it can Special Summon a Reptile monster from the GY if the opponent Special Summons as monster; this includes Ame no Murakumo, which can then trigger the monster destruction effect.

With the exception of Wousu, the three Mitsurugi no Mikoto monsters also have coincidental synergy with the Ryzeal archetype due to them being Level 4. Each one of them tries to get a Mitsurugi card to the hand for you to use.
The most crucial out of the three is Saji, who searches out a Mitsurugi Spell to the hand. There are only two of them in this version of Mitsurugi, but they are the important ones out of the Spell cards in the archetype.

Mitsurugi Prayers searches a Mitsurugi monster by tributing a Reptile monster from your hand or field, and a second effect it can activate in sequence to Special Summon a Mitsurugi monster from the hand or GY. This is yet another card to get to either Murakumo or Habakiri.
Mitsurugi Ritual is the main Ritual Spell for the Deck. It has two ways to Ritual Summon; one of which Ritual Summons by tributing materials from the Deck hand or field. This can get the Ritual Monsters or other crucial Reptile-type monsters like Night Sword Serpent to the GY to trigger their effects there. .
| Cards Needed on Hand | |
|---|---|
| Step | Description |
| 1 | Special Summon Ext Ryzeal from the hand by sending Mereologic Aggregator from the Extra Deck to the GY. Use its effect upon being Summoned; search a copy of Sword Ryzeal from the Deck. Note: If there is a card face-up on the opponent's field, activate and use Aggregator's effect to negate it. |
| 2 | Because you have Ext Ryzeal on the field already, Special Summon Sword Ryzeal to the field afterwards. On summon, trigger its effect; add Ice Ryzeal to the hand. Normal Summon Ice Ryzeal afterwards, then activate its effect; Special Summon Star Ryzeal from the Main Deck, which then you trigger its effect to set Ryzeal Cross onto the Field Spell Zone. Activate it afterwards |
| 3 | Use Ice Ryzeal and Star Ryzeal as materials first to Xyz Summon Ryzeal Detonator. On summon, trigger its effect to attach a monster from your GY to itself as material. |
| 4 | Using Ext Ryzeal and Sword Ryzeal as materials, Link Summon Ryzeal Duo Drive. Then, use its effect to detach two materials for itself; add Node Ryzeal and Ryzeal Plugin. |
| 5 | Special Summon Node Ryzeal as you have an Xyz Monster in the GY in Mereologic Aggregator. Use its effect on Summon; send Duo Drive (and its materials) to the GY; then Special Summon one of the regular Level 4 Ryzeal Monsters (with its effects negated). |
| 6 | Using Node Ryzeal and the other Level 4 Ryzeal monster as material, Xyz Summon King of the Feral Imps. Use its effect by detaching one material from itself to add Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi from Deck to hand. |
| 7 | Activate Ryzeal Cross; target two Ryzeal cards from the GY (preferrably Ext and Sword) and place them to the bottom of your Main Deck in any order, then draw a card. Then, Set Ryzeal Pluigin for the next turn. |
| 8 | With Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi, do full combo. |

| Step | Description |
| 1 | Activate Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi's effect; Special Summon Mitsurugi no Mikoto, Saji from the Deck, then immediately tribute it afterwards. This trigger's Saji's effect to add Mitsurugi Ritual to hand. |
| 2 | Activate Mitsurugi Ritual; by tributing Kusanagi and Aramasa from the Deck as cost for the second effect, Ritual Summon the same Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi you just used its effect from the hand. |
| 3 | Upon being tributed, activate both effects of Aramasa and Kusanagi in a single chain. Chain Link 2: Activate Kusanagi's effect; add back the Mitsurugi Ritual you just used from GY to hand. Chain Link 1: Activate Aramasa's effect; add a second copy of Ame no Habakiri to hand. |
| 4 | Activate Mitsurugi Ritual for a second time, this time using its first effect; using the Ame no Habakiri on the field, tribute it to summon Ame no Murakumo no Mitsurugi from the Deck. On tribute, active Ame no Habakiri's effect; add Mitsurugi Prayers from the Deck to hand, and Special Summon itself back onto the field. |
| 5 | Activate Mitsurugi Prayers by tributing Ame no Murakumo, and use both effects simultaneously as you tributed a Mitsurugi monster for its effect. Add the third and last copy of Ame no Habakiri from Deck to hand. Then, pay 800 LP, then summon Aramasa back from the GY. On tribute, this triggers Ame no Murakumo's effect; add a second Mitsurugi Prayers from the Deck to hand, and Special Summon itself back onto the field. |
| 6 | Normal Summon any Level 4 monster. If you have a Mulcharmy Fuwalos on hand, this is great as you cannot use its hand trap effect while you control cards on the field. Use the Level 4 monster and Aramasa on hand to Xyz Summon Ryzeal Duo Drive. Then, use Duo Drive's effect and detach both materials from itself; add Sword Ryzeal and Ryzeal Cross from the Deck to hand. |
| 7 | First, activate Ryzeal Cross. Then, as you control Ryzeal Duo Drive on the field, you can Special Summon Sword Ryzeal from the hand. Activate its effect on Special Summon; add Ext Ryzeal from the Deck to hand. |
| 8 | Using Ame no Murakumo and Ryzeal Duo Drive as material, Link Summon Dyna Mondo onto the Extra Monster Zone. |
| 9 | Special Summon Ext Ryzeal by sending an Xyz Monster from your Extra Deck to the Graveyard. Then using Sword Ryzeal and Ext Ryzeal from the field as material to Xyz Summon Ryzeal Detonator. On Summon, use its effect to absorb Ryzeal Duo Drive as material. |

| Anti-Meta Stun | ![]() At this point, with two strong meta archetypes coming together it might as well be recommended to play an Anti-Meta Stun Deck to stop all the shenanigans the opponent can do. However, the Stun player must be lucky in going first against this Deck to set up their floodgates, like Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo, Skill Drain and Macro Cosmos. Otherwise, they have to deal with activation effects from Ryzeal Detonator or the board wipe from Ame no Murakumo. Players can also run cards like Gordian Slicer and Ultimate Slayer to get rid of the Mitsurugi Ryzeal boss monsters without fear of having their effects negated as a response. |
|---|---|
| Kashtira | ![]() Yet another Deck that can deal with Mitsurugi Ryzeal's plethora of effects, Kashtira is still one of the best Decks out there that best punishes the opponent from using monster effects. Kashtira Fenrir, Kashtira Unicorn and Kashtira Ogre all banish their resources from various locations, including the Deck and Extra Deck. It can also be difficult for the Mitsurugi Ryzeal player to set up once they have Kashtira Shangri-Ira to block Card Zones, and Kashtira Arise-Heart to absorb banished cards as material. |
| Maliss | ![]() Maliss is still one of the strongest Decks in the meta, but there are some consistency hits in the October 2025 banlist update as Dormouse and Maliss in Underground are now Limited. Nevertheless, the Deck is extremely strong once it begins to trigger effects by banishing their cards. Its boss monsters in White Binder and Hearts Crypter only got stronger due to the addition of Allied Code Talker @Ignister as an additional negate and boss monster. |
| Tenpai Dragon | ![]() A Tenpai Dragon Deck is loaded with board wipes in order to clear monsters off the field to safely summon their FIRE Dragons. All it takes is one Paidra, Chundra or Sangen Summoning in order for the snowball to begin. One prominent version uses Sky Striker Spell Cards like Sky Striker Mobilize - Engage! for card advantage and Sky Striker Mecha - Widow Anchor as a negation and monster steal. |
Dark Ruler No More
|
A lot of the power from both Mitsurugi and Ryzeal are on the monsters they have on the field, either thanks to Ame no Murakumo, Futsu no Mitama or Ryzeal Detonator. In which case, Dark Ruler No More neutralizes them for a turn. The trade-off of not being able to deal damage for the rest of the turn is a fine trade-off for being able to remove some of their strongest monsters from the field. |
|---|---|
Dimensional Barrier
|
Dimensional Barrier denies a monster card type from being summoned or using their effects for the rest of the turn. This forces Mitsurugi Ryzeal players to make a choice on which strategy to run: the Ryzeal combo to get Detonator on the field, or the Mitsurugi set-up in order to have Ame no Murakumo ready to be summoned. |
Droll & Lock Bird
|
Both Mitsurugi and Ryzeal archetypes rely on their searches in order to get to their key monsters, which is especially dangerous given how many one-card combos this Deck can pull off. A single Droll & Lock Bird resolving means much of the combo extensions are denied for the rest of the turn, forcing the recepient to find a different way to get cards to hand. |
