Springans Breakdown

Springans Deck Guide: How to Play

Playstyle and Win Condition

Main Deck Monsters

Springans Rockey Springans Brothers Springans Pedor Springans Branga Springans Captain Sargas

The main Springans monsters to consider are Springans Rockey and Springans Brothers--the only monsters in the archetype advisable to have at 3 copies in a Deck. Rockey retrieves a "Springans" monster or the archetype's Field Spell from the GY to the hand. Meanwhile, Brothers can Special Summon a monster other than itself from the GY if sent there from the Deck.

The others are meant to support the Deck. Springans Pedor can tribute itself to Special Summon a "Springans" monster from the GY, Springans Branga can banish itself for a search effect from the Deck, and Springans Captain Sargas can target a card for destruction once per turn.

Mathmech Circular Mathmech Diameter Mathmech Multiplication Mathmech Nabla Mathmech Sigma

Oddly enough, the Mathmech archewtype can work with Springans, providing support as a Deck Engine with both control and firepower. Mathmech Circular is the main combo starter to take note of with this set of cards, thus making him the only monster worth having 3 copies in your Deck.

The other cards are there as pieces and extenders for a standard "Mathmech" combo. Mathmech Diameter gets a special mention for providing a Special Summon when Normal Summoned, and a negate Quick Effect to a Synchro or Xyz Monster that used this card as material

Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring Maxx "C" Therion "King" Regulus

The rest of the cards are supplementary. Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring and Maxx"C" need no introduction at this point, while Therion "King" Regulus acts as an additional form of protection with its synergy--"Springans" are mostly Machine-type monsters, after all.

Spell and Trap Cards

Great Sand Sea - Gold Golgonda

The Field Spell Great Sand Sea - Gold Golgonda is a key card for any Springans Deck. It grants all "Springans" Xyz Monsters an additional 1000 ATK while active, can Special Summon a "Springans" Xyz Monster without materials, and can stop an opponent's monster from attacking if an Xyz Monster you control leaves the field via card effect.

Springans Watch Tally-ho! Springans Springans Booty

Springans Watch acts as a "Springans" version of Terraforming, but if Great Sand Sea - Gold Golgonda is already on the field, it becomes a searcher and a Foolish Burial effect in a single activation.

Tally-ho! Springans is another key card to use during a combo. It can detach up to 3 materials from Xyz Monsters, and if they do, can Special Summon up to that many "Springans" monsters in the GY. It also doubles as a monster searcher for the Deck.

The Continuous Spell Springans Booty is more of a supporting card. If an Xyz Monster leaves the field via card effect, the player can target an opponent's monster--that monster's effects cannot be activated for the rest of the turn.
Should the player not have a copy of Great Sand Sea - Gold Golgonda, the player can send this from the field to the GY to activate a copy of the Field Spell straight from the Deck.

Called by the Grave Crossout Designator Infinite Impermanence Mathmech Superfactorial

The rest of the Spells and Traps are to inconvenience the opponent as much as possible. Called by the Grave and Crossout Designator can deal with hand traps, with the former can deal with monster effects that trigger in the GY. Infinite Impermanence can deal with monster effects that activate on the field, and can make that column useless for their Spells or Traps.

Mathmech Superfactorial is part of the "Mathmech" Deck Engine, and is crucial in summoning key Extra Deck Monsters.

Extra Deck Monsters

Springans Merrymaker Springans Ship - Exblowrer Gigantic "Champion" Sargas

Springans Merrymaker is the man Xyz Monster you will Special Summon, either with regular "Springans" monsters or with the help of Great Sand Sea - Gold Golgonda. When Special Summoned from the Extra Deck, it uses a Foolish Burial effect. It also has an additional effect that is better suited when running Fallen of Albaz.

SPringans Ship - Exblowrer can also be summoned with the Field Spell, but needs materials to activate its effect. If it does, it destroys a card on a specific zone--and adjacent zones around it, like a battleship. It can also banish itself during the opponent's turn as a form of protection.

While it is not a "Springans" monster by name, Gigantic Champion Sargas can be brought out using a "Springans" Xyz Monster. It can add a "Springans" or "Therion" monster once per turn, and can either destroy or bounce a monster on the field if a material is detached from an Xyz Monster.

Geomathmech Final Sigma Primathmech Alembertian Primathmech Laplacian

Since you're running the Mathmech Deck Engine, the three Extra Deck monsters of the archetype are pretty much part of the package. Primathmech Alembertian is the key card to enable the summoning of the other two, especially to get the Trap Card Mathmech Superfactorial.

When summoning Geomathmech Final Sigma, remember to place it on the Extra Monster Zone to enjoy immunity from non-"Mathmech" effects. Meanwhile, Primathmech Laplacian is always brought out via Superfactorial during the opponent's turn. That way, card advantage is on your hands as it send cards from the hand and field to the GY.

Abyss Dweller Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder Number F0: Utopic Future Number F0: Utopic Draco Future

Abyss Dweller remains a popular Xyz Monster to run due to the prevalance of Graveyard effects, especially with Tearlaments running amok still as of writing.

Because of the nature of "Springans" attaching themselves to Xyz Monsters as material, Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder can end up having enough materials to activate its effect twice or thirce in a single turn.

Number F0: Utopic Future is used to summon Number F0: Utopic Draco Future, which cannot be destroyed via battle or card effect. It can negate a monster's effect once per turn, and if that monster was on the field, you gain control of that monster permanently.

Infinitrack Fortress Megaclops Borreload Dragon

Infinitrack Fortress Megaclops works with this Deck, as in a good turn a Springans Deck can have around 3 Xyz Monsters on the field in any given time. Once summoned, it is an incredibly hard monster to remove from the field.

Borreload Dragon is more of an offensive choice for a LINK-4 Boss Monster, but any LINK-4 or LINK-5 monster with generic material requirements can work in this Deck.

5 Activate the second effect of Primathmech Alembertian; tribute itself from the field, then Special Summon Mathmech Sigma back onto the field.
6 Normal Summon Mathmech Diameter; activate its effect upon being Normal Summoned to Special Summon Mathmech Circular from the GY.

Boss Monsters

Springans Ship - Exblowrer
Springans Ship - Exblowrer Using its effect, Springans Ship - Exblowrer plays like a Battleship by targeting a Monster Zone or Spell & Trap Zone, and the specific zones surrounding it have their cards destroyed--depending on how many materials you detach from this Xyz Monster. It can also banish itself from the field until the End Phase as a protective measure.
Gigantic "Champion" Sargas
Gigantic "Champion" Sargas Gigantic "Champion" Sargas can easily be summoned with the use of a "Springans" Xyz Monster, attaching it and its materials to this card. It can search out a fellow "Springans" or "Therion" card, and has the option to destroy or bounce a card from the field to the hand if an Xyz Monster has had materials detached from it.
Number F0: Utopic Draco Future
Number F0: Utopic Draco Future Needing two Xyz Monsters with the same Rank as materials to bring out the prerequisite Number F0: Utopic Future, Number F0: Utopic Draco Future can fit in a Springans Deck. It can't be destroyed by battle, battle damage is 0 in attacks involving this Xyz Monster, and can detach a material if it ever becomes destroyed by card effect. It can also take control of a monster it attacks until the End Phase.
Geomathmech Final Sigma
Geomathmech Final Sigma Once Geomathmech Final Sigma gets Synchro Summoned onto the Extra Monster Zone, the only cards that can affect it are other "Mathmech" cards. If it somehow gets destroyed by battle or card effect, it can give a free search to a "Mathmech" card from the Deck. It also automatically doubles any battle damage this card deals.
Borreload Dragon
Borreload Dragon Borreaload Dragon cannot be targeted by card effects. It also has a Quick Effect that decreases a targeted monster's stats by 500 permanently--and the opponent cannot respond to this effect's activation. It can also take control of a monster the opponent controls by attacking it, and it gets sent to the GY after the Battle Phase.

Best Decks to Use Against Springans

Floowandereeze

Floowandereeze Top Image.PNG

If you plan on going anti-meta, no Deck does it better than Floowandereeze. Their playstyle of consecutive Normal Summons can often break through very solid boards, and has a very oppressive once it manages to get its key monsters onto the field.

Floowandereeze Deck List & Card Guide

Exosisters

Exosisters Top Image.png

Exosisters punishes Decks that move cards out of the Graveyard as part of their effect. Unfortunately, Springans Decks do a lot of that, due to their style of summoning, and a good Exosister player will immediately punish it with banish effects and Quick Effects that deny card advantage.

Ishizu Tearlaments

Master Duel - Ishizu Tearlaments Top Image.png

Ishizu Tearlaments is still at the top of the meta despite numerous hits to its usual Deck Recipe onto the banlist. The fact that it can use a lot of cards not in its own archetype speaks to its flexibility and ability to play through numerous disadvantages.

Best Cards to Tech Against Springans

Solemn Strike
Solemn Strike Solemn Strike is the best Counter Trap to use against Effect Monsters--especially Springans, even with the Life Point cost afterwards. This is especially effective against monsters with Quick Effects that are quite tricky to negate through conventional means.
Maxx "C"
Maxx "C" A Springans Deck can get out of control with their Special Summons at times, thus Maxx "C" is a great deterrent against them setting up their field, unless they are confident they can play through the insane card advantage it can provide with a Draw per Special Summon.
Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring
Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring There are quite a number of effects that either search a card, Special Summon a monster straight from the Deck, or sending a monster to the GY. Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring can stop most effects, thereby denying the Springans Deck immediate card advantage.
Super Polymerization
Super Polymerization With Super Polymerization now Unlimited to 3 copies in a Deck, it is now a good choice to run as a Quick-Play Spell. Depending on the end board, Mudragon of the Swamp or Garura, Wings of Resonant Life might need to take some space in your Extra Deck to counter what should be an unbreakable board.
