Defense OTK Deck Guide: How to Play
Playstyle and Win Condition
Defense OTK's win condition is to wait for the opponent to attack and do all the stat modifying shenanigans during the Damage Step to surprise them.
Defense OTK is kind of fragile deck despite its name being called "Defense". It hard loses to any relevant modern decks albeit Meta or not.
But it offers another form of gameplay and thats what makes this deck fun for casual gaming.

Stone Statue of the Aztecs has a sturdy 2000 DEF, and it doubles the damage your opponent takes when they attack this monster in Defense Position.
Big Shield Gardna and Destiny Hero - Defender have the highest DEF stats of all Level 4 monsters in the game, and are a pivotal choice.

Since this deck relies on its monsters to be Summoned, maximizing the draw power of the deck is very essential to reach its win condition.
|
|
Cards that modify the ATK and DEF stats of a monster are the Deck's main way to amplify the damage that it can deal to the opponent. Note that you can use these cards even during the Damage Step, as they are stat-modifying effects.
|
|
The only way for this deck to win is to let the opponent attack your monster. If the opponent does not want to attack and tries to play defensive as a war of attrition? Make them attack you by force.
Core Combos and Interactions
Setup
Use all the Draw-Spells to try and dig necessary cards for the setup.
1 Monster is enough along with multiple Stat-Modifying cards like Shrink and Rise to Full Height.

Note:
In this sample setup, D2 Shield and Rise to Full Height will double Aztec's DEF twice for a total of 8000 points.
If an Opponent's monster attacks it, Shrink will lower its attack stats, increasing the difference between the 2 monsters' stats.
For example, if an opposing Monster have 2000 ATK, Shrink will reduce it to 1000 ATK. While Aztec has 8000 DEF points.
The difference is 7000, but Aztec will double the damage it inflicts to the opponent for a total of 14000 battle damage.
Alternative Options
Cactus Fighter
|
A different variant of Defense OTK but similar gameplay. You will also force your opponent to attack you, but this time instead of High DEF monster, the Tokens you generated for them will do the work.
Forcing the Tokens to Battle with Cactus Fighter will always result to Cactus Fighter winning, thus activating its effect to Summon another token. This Loop will continue indefinitely until their LP depletes.

Best Decks to Use Against Defense OTK
Defense OTK is a fragile deck. It is intended to be used casually only as most modern decks can destroy cards by effects.

Tenyi Swordsoul has multiple monsters that can easily break boards as well as have high ATK stats. This deck can easily bypass the Defense OTK's win condition.

Defense OTK is a very fragile deck despite its name. It has no immunity from Effect Destructions which are common nowadays.
