Vaalmonica Breakdown

Alternate Cards for Vaalmonica

Revolution Synchron
Revolution Synchron For a different kind of playstyle involving Vaalmonica, consider using Revolution Synchron to open up the Extra Deck to more options. This can be used to go into Shooting Riser Dragon, then go into key boss monsters like Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon and Baronne de Fleur among others.
Effect Veiler
Effect Veiler Effect Veiler is an additional hand trap to consider, and is an option if the player does not make use of the Fiendsmith Engine as part of the Deck Recipe. This is another form of negate to go along with Infinite Impermanence, and if played with a Synchro version of Vaalmonica, serves as a Tuner for Level 8 Synchro Monsters.
Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir
Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir For a Deck that can go first, Number 41: Bagooska the Terribly Tired Tapir can be used defensively to prevent the opponent from playing monsters properly without dealing with this card first. It being Rank 4 also means two Vaalmonica Main Deck monsters is all it needs to summon this on the field.
Time Thief Redoer
Time Thief Redoer Nother Rank 4 Xyz Monster option, Time Thief Redoer steals the top card of the opponent's Deck during the Standby Phase, and make use of it as attached material. Depending on the material used to detach as cost for its effect, it can make use of different effects to its advantage.
Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder
Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder If a Deck can run an Xyz monster, Divine Arsenal AA-ZEUS - Sky Thunder. Its ability to clear out both sides of the field can reset the game enough to be taken advantage of. Best of all, so long as this monsters has the needed materials attached to it, it can keep using its effect as it does not have any hard once-per-turn clause.
Triple Tactics Talent & Triple Tactics Thrust
Triple Tactics Talent Triple Tactics Thrust Vaalmonica could need some additional support here and there to deal with hand traps. This is where the Triple Tactics Spell Cards can be of great help. Thrust searches a Normal Spell Card for you to use, while Tactics is a toolbox can either let you steal a monster, draw cards, or rip a card off of the opponent's hand.

Core Combos and Interactions

Field Spell + Dimonno Start into Double Link-1 Monsters

Card on Hand
Vaalmonica, the Agathokakological Voice Dimonno Vaalmonica
Step Description
1 Activate Vaalmonica, the Agathokakological Voice; add Selettrice Vaalmonica to the hand from this effect.
2 Activate Dimonno Vaalmonica from the hand; send Selettrice Vaalmonica to the GY, then place one copy each of Angello Vaalmonica and Dimonno Vaalmonica on the Pendulum Zones.
3 Upon being sent to the GY, trigger the effect of Selettrice Vaalmonica; add itself back to the hand.
Normal Summon it afterwards, and activate its effect to add Vaalmonica Scelta to the hand.
4 Activate Vaalmonica Scelta, and use the second effect; take 500 damage to be able to add Vaalmonica Invitare from the deck to the hand.
Activate Vaalmonica Invitare afterwards, and use the second effect as well; add Dimonno Vaalmonica to the hand, and place Angello Vaalmonica on top of the Extra Deck face-up.
5 Conduct a Pendulum Summon with Dimonno Vaalmonica and Angello Vaalmonica from the hand and Extra Deck.
6 Activate the effect of Dimonno Vaalmonica on the field; banish Vaalmonita Scleta from the GY, take 500 damage, then add Vaalmonica Versare from the Deck.
Activate the newly-added Spell Card afterwards, and use the second effect; take 500 damage, then send a "Vaalmonica" card from the Deck to the GY.
7 Activate the effect of Angello Vaalmonica on the field; banish Vaalmonica Versare from the Gy, heal 500 LP, then excavate your Deck until you get a "Vaalmonica" card.
8 At this point, you should have 3 Resonance Counters on one of your Pendulum Cards.
Using this, using one of the Level 4 "Vaalmonica" monsters on the field as material (preferrably one of the Pendulum Monsters), Link Summon Zebufera, Vaalmonican Hallow Heathen.
9 Using the other "Vaalmonica" Pendulum Monster on the field as material, Link Summon Duralume, Vaalmonican Heathen Hallow.
Field Spell: Vaalmonica, the Agathokakological Voice
Zebufera, Vaalmonican Hallow Heathen X
Duralume, Vaalmonican Heathen Hallow Selettrice Vaalmonica

Boss Monsters

Zebufera, Vaalmonican Hallow Heathen
Zebufera, Vaalmonican Hallow Heathen While Zebufera, Vaalmonican Hallow Heathen can only be Special Summoned once per turn, this card is crucial in getting combos ongoing for this archetype--especially with its reliance on Resonance Counters. On the opponent's turn, it can make use of "Vaalmonica" Spell or Trap Cards and use their effects as a Quick Effect.
Varar, Vaalmonican Concord
Varar, Vaalmonican Concord So long as there are 6 or more Resonance Counters on the field, Varar, Vaalmonican Concord becomes immune to effects from non-Vaalmonica cards. For each Level 4 monster from the archetype you control, this card gets one additional attack in the Battle Phase. It can also negate a Special Summon by removing 3 Resonance Counters.
Fiendsmith's Desirae
Fiendsmith Fiendsmith's Desirae is the major boss monster of the Fiendsmith Engine, and is most often used for its ability to negate multiple cards as a Quick Effect in a single instance. However, this needs the Fiendsmith Link monsters equipped to this card to be able to use its negation effect.
Chaos Angel
Chaos Angel Even with no Tuners in the Deck, Chaos Angel can be summoned with one LIGHT or DARK monster serving as material. Depending on the Attributes of the monsters used as material, this card gains additional effects on Summon, on top of being able to banish a card from the field.
Mekk-Knight Crusadia Avramax
Mekk-Knight Crusadia Avramax For a more offensive boss monster that can deal with Special Summoned monsters, Mekk-Knight Crusadia is a powerful monster to consider. This monster redirects all attacks onto itself, and is immune to targeted card effects. For an added strategy, this card can be summoned with I:P Masquerena to earn immunity from card destruction effects as well.

Vaalmonica Counters: How to Beat

Best Decks to Use Against Vaalmonica

Sky Strikers

Master Duel - Sky Strikers

Sky Strikers are masters in singular target destuction, and control over the battlefield through various Spell Cards and Link Monster effects.

This is especially profound with cards like Afterburners! and Jamming Waves!, Widow Anchor for the monster negate, and Engage! and Kagari being crucial cards for constant Spell Card rotation.

Sky Strikers Deck List and Card Guide

Endymion

Master Duel - Endymion

When Endymion manages to set up on the field, they have a field full of monsters that can negate monster effects, Spells and Traps--so long as they have Spell Counters, which increase each time a Spell Card is activated.

Going up against this Deck will be extremely hard unless you find a way to bypass the monsters with the negation effects.

Endymion Deck List & Card Guide

Anti-Meta Stun

Master Duel - Anti-Meta Stun

More infuriating than all of the Decks mentioned above, despite being Control Decks themselves, is an Anti-Meta Stun Deck solely built to be as annoying and as slow as possible. Floodgates, interruptions, and negates galore are in this Deck, and it will take multiple clears or a completley uninterrupted effect to beat set-ups.

There are a lot of effects that deal with that are not hit in the banlist like Clockwork Night, Moon Mirror Shield and Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo.

Anti-Meta Stun Deck List & Card Guide

Best Cards to Tech Against Vaalmonica

Harpie's Feather Duster
Harpie Harpie's Feather Duster, alongside any other backrow removal, is crucial against this Deck--denying them the Pendulum Scales to conduct Pendulum Summons or use their Pendulum Effects significantly reduces this Deck's efficiency.
Summon Limit
Summon Limit Restricting Summons up to 2 cards can reduce the speed of the game, which is what Vaalmonica does not want. Summon Limit does exactly that with its effect, so long as the Continuous Trap is active and on the field.
Sinful Spoils of Subversion - Snake-Eye
Sinful Spoils of Subversion - Snake-Eye Quite a few cards are in the game that can counter Sinful Spoils of Subversion - Snake-Eye, especially it if decides to forcefully occupy one of your Pendulum Zones with a non-Pendulum Monster through this card's effect.
Vanity's Ruler
Vanity Pendulum Summons also count as Special Summons, which is why any cards that has any form of restriction in Special Summoning monsters will hit this Deck hard. The most prevalant example would be Vanity's Ruler, which is becoming more common once again in more control-oriented Decks.
