Worldsea Dragon Zealantis | |
---|---|
For a Deck that can run a LINK-4 monster, Worldsea Dragon Zealantis is a must-run boss monster in the Extra Deck. It resets the monsters of the field, banishing and the Special Summoning all of them in one fell swoop. The user gets to determine how they are Special Summoned again, and they can Set the opponent's monsters as they wish in this effect. | |
Ragnaraika Chain Coils | |
Ragnaraika Chain Coils is actually very strong against hand traps as it stops both players from being able to activate monster effects from the hand. It can also Special Summon itself from the GY by shuffling either an Insect, Reptile or Plant-type monster. | |
Ragnaraika Stag Sovereign | |
Ragnaraika Stag Sovereign punishes Special Summons from the opponent's Extra Deck, as once per turn that this happens it can destroy two monsters on the field. It also shares the same Special Summon effect as Chain Coils have mentioned above. | |
Sacred Tree Beast, Hyperyton | |
Often summoned with the help of Rikka Queen Strenna, Sacred Tree Beast, Hyperyton can attach materials onto itself for every card type you activate--Monster, Spell and Trap. Then, it can use them to negate the effects of cards of the same type from the opponent. |
Once an Anti-Meta Stun Deck manages to set up against Ragnaraika, you can forget about being able to get to the Link Monsters that enable this Deck. If they go first, one such card like Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo or any of the Barrier Statues stops summons; if they go second, a single Evenly Matched can wipe the field .
Anti-Meta Stun Deck List & Card Guide
Labrynth going first will be a nightmare for this Deck, especially if they manage to trigger the combo of Lovely Labrynth of the Silver Castle. If it manages to snipe the Snake Rain on hand, you have no way of sending crucial cards to the GY to kickstart the combo. On top of that are the various Traps of the Deck that will interrupt any move Ogdoadic Ragnaraika users could do, like Ice Dragon's Prison and Dogmatika Punishment.
Labrynth Deck List & Card Guide
One of the strongest and most consistent Decks in the meta right now, Yubel has an incredibly strong start if it goes first, and ways to take advantage if it goes second. So long as Nightmare Pain is face-up and active, any version of "Yubel" can crash into a monster you control--and you take the damage for it.
Dimension Shifter | |
---|---|
Cards that force GY-bound cards to be banished instead are the words cards an Ogdoadic Ragnaraika Deck can face. This is especially true for Dimension Shifter, who can be activated on Turn 1 as a hand trap and can be timed against the activation of Snake Rain. Honorable mentions go to Dimensional Fissure and Macro Cosmos for having the same debilitating effect. | |
Summon Limit | |
The typical combo line for this Deck needs multiple summons in order to get to their boss monsters, especially for the LINK-4 and LINK-5 monsters. Summon Limit bottlenecks both players into only two summons each turn, meaning it will be slower than usual to get to those monsters as soon as possible. | |
Maxx "C" | |
Another counter against the Special Summon-heavy Ogdoadic Ragnaraika Deck, Maxx "C" is the single best card against a Deck that relies too much on them. Once it resolves successfully, there are only two ways to go about its effect: stop Special Summoning to stop them from drawing more cards, or keep going until your end board and pray that the opponent has not drawn the out somehow. | |
Dark Ruler No More | |
Dark Ruler No More will negate all monsters on the field the moment it activates. This means the Ragnaraika monsters cannot activate their effects, and cards like Hyperyton cannot negate it due to the Spell Card's conditions. It comes at a cost of not being able to deal damage for the rest of the turn, but it is more than enough a price to stop all boss monsters. | |
Called by the Grave | |
Majority of the Ragnaraika Link monsters have the ability to Special Summon themselves from the GY during their turn. A well-timed Called by the Grave can negate their effects, and banish them at the same time. You only have two copies of this in a Deck at max, so make them count when using this Quick-Play Spell. |
