Red-Eyes Breakdown

Red-Eyes Black Dragon Deck Guide: How to Play

Playstyle and Win Condition

Red-Eyes

Red-Eyes may be a slower Deck in comparison to more of the top-tier Decks in the current meta, but with its boss monsters, they do have a chance to turn things around to their favor.

With the release of Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon to playability for Master Duel, this Deck has a brand new monster to default to.

Getting Red-Eyes Monsters on the Field

There are a number of ways to quickly getting strong monsters on the field.

The key monster here is The Black Stone of Legend, which lets you Special Summon a Level 7 or lower "Red-Eyes" monster directly from your deck.

If Red-Eyes Insight is on hand, use the spell to send one Red-Eyes monster to the GY and select a Red-Eyes Fusion card. This is used to Fusion Summon either Meteor Black Comet Dragon, Archfiend Black Skull Dragon or Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon.

One copy of Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon is enough for its effect to Special Summon any Dragon-type monster from either your hand or GY once per turn.

High Damage Potential

When you summon Meteor Black Comet Dragon, you can send one Red-Eyes monster to the GY and immediately inflict damage to your opponent equal to half the original ATK of the monster. If you run the burn variant of Red-Eyes, make use of Inferno Fire Blast and target Meteor Black Comet Dragon to deal an additional 3500 damage directly to your opponent.

Attacking with Archfiend Black Skull Dragon gives an additional effect during the end of the Battle Phase, letting you choose one "Red-Eyes" monster in the GY and inflict damage directly to your opponent equal to its ATK in the GY, as long as damage calculation is performed.

The most dangerous is Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon, which comes equip with an omni-negate effect that gives this Fusion Monster a permanent ATK boost. It also has a monster-destroying effect that deals burn damage based on the destroyed monster's ATK.

Protecting Your Cards

The deck sadly doesn't have a lot of cards with regards to protecting your cards.

Return of the Dragon Lords is used to resurrect a Dragon-type monster in your GY. And there, you can banish it to keep one of your monsters from being destroyed by either battle or card effects.

Yet another alternate option, Normal Summoning Meteor Dragon Red-Eyes Impact again can turn it into an Effect Monster by virtue of being a Gemini Monster, protecting all your "Red-Eyes" monsters from being destroyed by both battle & card effects.

Burn Damage Options

If you have two Level 7 "Red-Eyes" monsters on the field, you can use them to Xyz Summon Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon. It has an effect that it deals 500 damage directly to your opponent whenever they activate a card or effect. Also, if you detach one material from it you can choose one "Red-Eyes" Normal Monster and Special Summon it from the GY.

Kashtira Engine

A new addition to Red-Eyes is the Kashtira Engine, which synergizes well with archetypes that share the Level 7.

Kashtira Fenrir and Kashtira Unicorn are great monsters to summon first for protection and punishment for the opponent using monster effects. The latter can search Kashtira Birth which not only can bring back the Kashtira monsters from the GY or banishment, it can also make Normal Summoning Level 7 monsters tribute-less.

Red-Eyes Early Summon

The Black Stone of Legend ImageThe Black Stone of Legend Black DragonBlack Dragon's Chick Red-Eyes Black Dragon ImageRed-Eyes Black Dragon

These are the fastest ways to get a Red-Eyes Black Dragon onto the field. You can use a Black Dragon's Chick if you have Red-Eyes Black Dragon in your hand, or use The Black Stone of Legend if all your Red-Eyes Black Dragons are in your deck.

Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon

The Black Stone of Legend ImageThe Black Stone of Legend Black DragonBlack Dragon's Chick Red-Eyes Black Dragon ImageRed-Eyes Black Dragon Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon ImageRed-Eyes Darkness Dragon

Summoning Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon is exactly like summoning Red-Eyes Black Dragon early, just with an additional step of tributing your Red-Eyes Black Dragon to summon Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon.

Summoning Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon this way gives you an additional effect of adding two more Dragon Monsters to your GY, giving it an additional 600 ATK on top of its 2400 ATK. This will only increase given the number of Dragon Monsters you have in your GY.

Meteor Black Comet Dragon

Red-Eyes Fusion ImageRed-Eyes Fusion Meteor Black Comet Dragon ImageMeteor Black Comet Dragon

A very simple way to Fusion Summon Meteor Black Comet Dragon. All you need to do is use Red-Eyes Fusion during your main phase and pick the necessary monsters to fuse and you can Special Summon it to the field.

As soon as you Special Summon Meteor Black Comet Dragon, you can activate its effect to send a Red-Eyes monster to the GY and directly deal damage to your opponent equal to half the original ATK of the selected Red-Eyes monster.

Archfiend Black Skull Dragon

Red-Eyes Fusion ImageRed-Eyes Fusion Archfiend Black Skull Dragon ImageArchfiend Black Skull Dragon

A very simple way to Fusion Summon Archfiend Black Skull Dragon. All you need to do is use Red-Eyes Fusion during your main phase and pick the necessary monsters to fuse and you can Special Summon it to the field.

Archfiend Black Skull Dragon has a unique effect that whenever damage calculation is performed involving this monster, at the end of the Battle Phase, you can select one Red-Eyes monster in your GY and inflict damage directly to your opponent equal to the chosen monster's original ATK before shuffling the card from your GY back to your deck.

Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon

Red-Eyes Black Dragon ImageRed-Eyes Black Dragon Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon ImageRed-Eyes Black Flare Dragon Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon ImageRed-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon

A great monster to have on the field. Using a Red-Eyes Black Dragon and Red-EYes Black Flare Dragon as material, you can summon it onto the field.

While Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon is on the field, it'll deal 500 damage directly to your opponent each time they activate a card or effect after it resolves.

Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon

Red-Eyes Baby Dragon ImageRed-Eyes Baby Dragon Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon ImageRed-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon

Another fairly easy summon. You can actually replace Red-Eyes Baby Dragon with any face-up Dragon Monster you have on the field. Red-Eyes Baby Dragons may be the best bet as you'll need to banish the chosen face-up Dragon Monster to successfuly summon the Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon.

Once per turn during your Main Phase, you can use its effect to Special Summon 1 Dragon Monster from either your hand or GY to the field.

Budget Red-Eyes Black Dragon: F2P Friendly

Lower Rarity Replacements

Black DragonBlack Dragon's Chick With the arrival of Black Metal Dragon, Black Dragon's Chick was taken out of the Deck Recipe out of efficiency. It is still a viable option, but its effect only works if you have a copy of Red-Eyes Black Dragon on hand to Special Summon.
Fusion Substitute ImageFusion Substitute If you don't have Red-Eyes Fuion, using Fusion Substitute may be a viable option. The only downside is you won't be able to use cards in either your hand or your Deck to fusion summon a monster, but have them be on the field.
Pot of Avarice ImagePot of Avarice Pot of Avarice may work as a viable substitute for Red-Eyes Insight in a pinch, however you won't be able to choose the card you want or need.
Dark World Dealings ImageDark World Dealings Similar to Pot of Avarice, Dark World Dealings may work as a substitute for Red-Eyes Insight, but offers the same problem of not being able to choose the card you want or need. Also, your opponent gets to draw one card as well.
Return of the Red-Eyes ImageReturn of the Red-Eyes A budget Called by the Grave. But may be more useful in some ways as it's not limited to just monster cards.

I'm sorry that deck is horrendous. Sure its keeping the focus of red eyes as much as possible but there was way better options. You can replace meteor with mana dragon as it can help replace a destroyed spell or trap (which is nice if you turn 1 red eyes fusion or verte then set a lot of nice back row like return of red eyes, fang with chain, etc)

4 LiftBlazinFirealmost 2 years

Number 75 is forbidden and what should i replace it with i just added a extra darkness metal the dragon of dark steel.
